Call for internship period at the Nakai Resorts (Maldives)

deadline to apply: 23/01/2026

Published on 14 January 2026

For the students of the second year of the Master in Astrophysics and Cosmology, there is the possibility to carry out an internship period at the Nakai Resorts (Maldives): https://alimatha.nakairesorts.com/en/.

The activity - six weeks long, exact period to be decided, indicatively in March-May 2026 - is related to astronomical outreach for the tourists present in the resorts (introductory presentations/talks in the resort theater, observation of the night sky from the beach or from the boat, availability to answer the tourists’ curiosities, etc.). Travel and local living costs are completely covered by Nakai. The completion of this internship will be acknowledged with 3 credits (as alternative to the professional skills).

Good knowledge of the night sky and of the celestial phenomena plus ability to relate at the right level with the public are required.

Since the tourists are almost only Italian, a good knowledge of the Italian language is also required.

If you are interested, please send an email to Prof. Carlo Nipoti (carlo.nipoti@unibo.it) by January 23

Before applying, please consider carefully the possible impact of this activity on the timeline of your academic career (e.g. delay in the thesis’ work and in the final graduation). All applicants will be evaluated by a panel shortly after the deadline.
