The second-cycle Degree Programme in Astrophysics and Cosmology, which is taught in English, is open to students worldwide and provides an international learning experience. The programme combines a strong foundation in physics with advanced topics in astrophysics and cosmology, preparing graduates for PhD studies and research careers in universities, institutes, and companies in Italy and abroad.
Students benefit from mobility opportunities through Erasmus+, Overseas exchanges, and dedicated funding offered by the Department of Physics and Astronomy for the thesis preparation abroad (for a period of 3–6 months). The main destinations are prestigious institutions such as LMU Munich, Heidelberg, Hamburg, Potsdam, Groningen and Aix-Marseille, but many other exchange opportunities are available (for more detailed information, see the page International mobility at DIFA).
Moreover, the Department of Physics and Astronomy fosters a dynamic scientific environment with weekly seminars (in close collaboration with other scientific institutes, e.g. INAF, INFN, CTAO), frequent visits from international scholars, and a lively community of researchers and students from around the globe. This creates a stimulating academic atmosphere where students build connections, broaden their perspectives, and prepare for a truly international career in astrophysics and cosmology.
