Information on how to propose an internship

Companies and institutions who are ChIR Internship Host Organizations can accept students from the ChIR Course of Study to carry out the internship activity as planned in their Degree Programme.

How to start an internship

To become a ChIR Internship Host Organizations, the Company/Institution must:
-          have an internship agreement with a ChIR Academic Host. Any of the full-partner universities of the ChIR Consortium, UAlg, UB or University of Bologna, may be an Academic Host (as regards internship agreement with the University of Bologna, please check on the online Internship and agreements Service of the University of Bologna)
-          be approved by the Programme Committee

Every year the ChIR Programme Management Team accepts placement offers from ChIR Host Organizations and assigns students to the available internships, fitting students’ choices and Host Organizations needs as far as possible.

After the assignment, according to the procedure of the University of Bologna, the ChIR Internship Host Organizations must publish a curricular internship offer in the “Offers” section on the online Internship and agreements Service of the University of Bologna, targeted to the single student who has already been selected (for more information, you can contact the Internship Office).

How long does it take to activate an internship

The internship usually takes 15 days from the publication of the offer/acceptance of the intern to receive confirmation to start the activity and permission for the student to print the Attendance record book.

How long an internship lasts

The internship lasts for the time to achieve the number of 15 credits (ECTS) required by the ChIR Degree Programme (which corresponds to a workload of minimum 375 – maximum 450 hours, since 1 CFU is equal to minimum 25 – maximum 30 working hours), having the approximate duration of 3 months. It must be carried out within the period indicated in the Attendance record book, in which the student must take note of the hours of the internship.

Insurance cover and business travels

The University of Bologna offers insurance cover for on-work injuries and third-party liability exclusively within the approved period indicated in the Attendance record book.

For further information please consult the Insurance Policy webpage.

If the student needs to travel to locations not included in the approved programme, the student can ask for the extension of the insurance by contacting the Academic Tutor by mail – with the Internship Office and Tutor at the Host Organization in copy c/c – and wait for the authorization.

What to do at the end of the internship

After completing the working hours of the internship, the Tutor at the Host Organization must:
- sign the Attendance record book of the student to confirm the working hours and period of the internship
- sign the Internship final report written by the student
- fill out the questionnaire at the end of the internship
