Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods

General information on admission requirements 

1. For admission to the Second Cycle Degree Programme in Greening Energy Market and Finance, candidates must have acquired knowledge of mathematics, economics, and statistics at the first-cycle graduate level.

2. Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is also subject to the possession of a 1st cycle degree in one of the following classes, or other suitable qualification obtained abroad:

- ex. Italian Ministerial Decree no. 270/04: L-7 Civil and environmental engineering , L-8 Information technology engineering , L-9 Industrial engineering, L-18 Business administration, L- 30 Physics, L-31Computer Science , L-33 Economics , L-35 Mathematics , L 41 Statistics.

• ex. Italian Ministerial Decree no. 509/99: classe 8 (Ingegneria Civile e Ambientale), classe 9 (Ingegneria dell'informazione), classe 10 (Ingegneria industriale), classe 17 (Scienze dell'economia e della gestione aziendale), classe 25 (Scienze e Tecnologie Fisiche), classe 26 (Scienze e Tecnologie Informatiche), classe 28 (Scienze Economiche), classe 32 (Scienze Matematiche), classe 37 (Scienze Statistiche).

Previous four-year degree programme system: Degree in: Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Trade, Statistical Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering.

3. Admission to the degree programme is subject to the assessment of knowledge and skills in the English language, at least at B2 level. Students holding a corresponding language certification may be exempted from sitting this exam.

4. Admission to the Second Cycle Degree Programme is in any case for all candidates subject to the possession of the established curricular requirements and to the assessment of personal competencies and skills by a Board appointed by the Degree Programme Board. Personal competencies and skills will be assessed through a test and the evaluation of the curriculum, in line with the procedures indicated in the admission section (for complete information about the test see the Notice for admission).

Fulfillment of curricular and personal preparation requirements

We inform you that the proof of English proficiency has been modified. The latter can be consider fulfilled with one of the following cases:

• Certification by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA)
• English Language certification among the following: TOEFL, ISE, IELTS, CAMBRIDGE
  EXAM SUITE.
• Other international recognised English Language certification that the Admission
  Board might deem appropriate
• B2 level English exam in their Bachelor’s study plan
• Certification of working/studying experience in English-speaking countries
  (internship, exchange programme, winter/summer school, etc.).
• Certification of working/studying experience in non-English speaking countries but in
  which English was required and used as working language (internship, exchange
  programme, etc.).
• OLS Test in English obtaining the B2 level
• Holding a degree completely taught in English
• English native speaker

Admission to the programme depends on the fulfillment of specific curricular and personal preparation requirements. 

In order to know more about the procedures and the deadlines for both curricular and personal preparation requirements, read the attached call for applications very carefully.

If you graduated from a University of Bologna degree programme you can check if you fulfill the curricular requirements by accessing Studenti online:

1.       Select “Degree with exams, dates and grades” from the “Certificates and self-certifications” section and then select “self-certifications”.

2.       Download the list of all exams sat during the previous curriculum followed, together with the related University educational credits and corresponding subject groups.

3.       Examine your University career on your own and compare your career with the access requirements.

4.       Access Studenti online and complete the "self-certification of access requirements” form in the Matriculation section.

If you graduated from another University, you can check if you fulfill the curricular requirements by downloading a self-certification form from your University platform, as well as the list of all exams sat during the programme you attended, together with the related University educational credits and corresponding subject groups. If your University does not have an on-line self-certification form, complete the "declaration in lieu of certification" form available from Studenti online.

If you fulfill the curricular requirements, you can then submit:

• Self-certification of your exams and the degree certification, if already obtained (check the call for application for further details);
• Curriculum vitae ;
• Statement of purpose ;
• Copy of a valid id card/passport;
• B2 English proficiency proof (check the call for application for further details);
• One reference letter from academics and scholars (check the call for application for further details);
• For NON-EU citizens: a copy of your valid permit of stay, in case you already have it.

All the documents have to be submitted by the intake deadline.

The Committee will assess your application and if you are admitted, you will receive further details to finalize your enrollment. 

If you do not fulfill the curricular requirements, the Admission Committee will evaluate your application anyway, considering only the submitted documents.

Ranking: May 6th 2024

Second Intake 

Opening: April 5th 2024

Closing: May 3rd 2024 (h 11:00 am CET)

Online assessment test: May 9th 2024 (h 11:00 am CET)

Ranking: May 31st 2024

Third Intake

Opening: June 3rd 2024

Closing: July 1st 2024 (h 11:00 am CET)

Online assessment test: July 8th 2024 (h 11:00 am CET)

Ranking: July 29th 2024

Enrolment period

Enrolment: From July 25th to October 29th 2024

Enrolment (with additional fee): From October 30th to November 21st 2024

Deadline for obtaining a bachelor's degree for conditional enrolment (to be completed as soon as the bachelor's degree is obtained): December 30th 2024

IMPORTANT: No additional information nor templates will be provided regarding the GrEnFIn online assessment test. Candidates graduated/graduating from a bachelor in Maths, Finance, Stats or Economics possess a suitable background for taking this test.

NON-EU students living outside Italy, next to complying with the rules and deadlines established by the University of Bologna, you must pre-enrol online through the Universitaly portal. For more information:

Non-EU students with residency abroad: reserved “contingenti”/quotas, pre-enrolment, visa and Italian language requirement

Non-EU applicants can apply for the 2nd Intake under condition only if they have already submitted pre-enrolment application to the Italian Representative in their country within due date (deadlines to be checked at Italian Representative at home country).
Accepted candidates can proceed with the final enrolment, according to terms and conditions as stated by the University of Bologna in due time.
