Admission requirements for the degree programme
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession, firstly of the curricular requirements and secondly to the assessment of personal competencies and skills. Candidates not possessing the described curricular requirements will not be admitted to the 2nd cycle degree programme. Those in possession of the described curricular requirements will be assessed on their personal competencies and skills. Candidates passing this assessment will be admitted to the 2nd cycle degree programme. The curricular requirements and methods of assessing personal competencies and skills are described below.
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of both the following curricular requirements:
1) One of the following degrees:
a) Degree in Computer Engineering (class 9 ex DM 509/1999 or class L-8 ex DM 270/2004); Degree in Industrial Engineering (class 10 ex DM 509/1999 or class L-9 ex DM 270/2004); Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (class 8 ex DM 509/1999 or class L-7 ex DM 270/2004);
b) First or second level degree from the previous degree system, three-year university diploma from the previous degree system, or other suitable university qualification obtained abroad.
2) documented evidence of meeting the following requirements:
- at least 42 CFU in the following subject areas: INF/01, ING-INF/05, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08, MAT/09, SECS-S/02, CHIM/03, CHIM/07, FIS/01, FIS/02;
- at least 30 CFU in the following subject areas: ING-IND/08, ING-IND/12, ING-IND/13, ING-IND/14, ING-IND/15, ING-IND/16, ING-IND/17, ING-IND/19, ING-IND/22, ING-IND/25, ING-IND/28, ING-IND/31, ING-IND/33, ING-IND/35, ICAR/08;
- at least 18 CFU in the following subject areas: ING-IND/08, ING-IND/12, ING-IND/13, ING-IND/14, ING-IND/15, ING-IND/16.
For candidates with a qualification obtained abroad, or in Italy under previous degree systems, a special Board (appointed by the Degree Programme Board) will assess the equivalence of the qualification for the purposes of meeting the admission requirements, identifying the number of credits obtained in each subject area, possibly also with an interview. If it is not possible to identify the subject areas and number of credits obtained, the Board will proceed with an assessment of the candidates' academic career.
For candidates not meeting the above-indicated curricular requirements, the aforementioned Board will assess their suitability based on the analysis of their academic curriculum (and possibly an interview).
The Board will set a calendar for its activities, which will be published on the University portal. If the Board considers the level of the candidates' knowledge and skills to be satisfactory, they will be admitted for further assessment as described in the following paragraph.
ASSESSMENT OF PERSONAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
For candidates meeting the curricular requirements, admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is in any case subject to the assessment of the students' personal competencies and skills. Assessment of personal competencies and skills is based on the analysis of the candidates' curriculum by the above-mentioned Board.
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the assessment of knowledge and skills in the English language. The Degree Programme may require students to recover any initial deficit in their language skills if they are assessed to below level B1 on admission.
A special Admissions session may be held for international students, with a Board appointed to assess the candidates' personal competencies and skills; this session will be compatible with the schedule established in the call for applications for study grants (which indicatively expires in May).
International students who pass the above-mentioned assessment are exempted from the following assessment of their personal competencies and skills required for other students.
The 2nd cycle degree programme in Mechanical Engineering may have restricted access, depending on the available resources.
In the event of restricted access, candidates will be admitted following a selection procedure. The number of places and selection methods are published annually in the call for applications.
If restricted access applies to the programme, only applicants meeting the curricular requirements will be admitted to the selection procedure.
For candidates not meeting the above-indicated curricular requirements, admission to the selection procedure is assessed by the Board appointed by the Degree Programme Board, based on the analysis of their academic curriculum (and possibly an interview).
This assessment is also open to candidates enrolled in a degree programme listed in point a) of the first curricular requirement for admission, provided they have already obtained at least 156 CFU. If such candidates pass the selection they must graduate within the deadline for registration laid down in the call for applications.
If the Board considers the level of the candidate's knowledge and skills to be satisfactory, they will be admitted to the selection procedure.
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is in any case subject to the assessment of the students' personal competencies and skills.
Personal competencies and skills are assessed during the selection procedure for the restricted access programme, held as described in the call for applications. Students passing with at least the minimum score set in the call for applications will be deemed to have passed this selection.
