The specific topics of the presentation will be as follow:
- Introduction offshore wind energy – Fixed and Floating OWF.
- Ground model, geological and geotechnical desk study, detailed geotechnical survey consultancy.
- Key aspects for design of shallow foundation.
- Suction caisson foundation types, installation process, design principle, site condition, risk mitigation, practical considerations.
- Piles foundation for jacket structure design and installation – key geotechnical design issues.
- Introduction to bottom founded structures design and installation.
- Introduction to floating wind, stability, seakeeping and mooring systems.

The speakers

Luca Montalti
Luca has been working in the UK Consulting Engineering Industry for the last 9 years. He achieved his MSc in structural engineering at the University of Bologna and PhD in Geotechnical engineering at the University of Southampton. During his career he has acquired relevant experience working in multi-disciplinary sectors such as tunnelling, offshore oil and gas and renewable. At Cathie, Luca project manages and provides technical input to high profile design and installation projects including suction can foundations, driven piles and drilled plus grouted piles. Key areas of expertise include Geotechnical Engineering & Offshore Engineering, Structural Ground Interaction, Offshore Foundation Design, Geotechnical numerical analysis & FEA modelling of structure, Project management.

Felipe Moreno
Felipe is an offshore structural engineer with 9 years of experience in the offshore wind sector. He has worked as foundation designer for suction piles in Holland and as bottom founded structures for substations and WTGs in the UK. He is passionate in developing new ideas for an industry that too frequently has looked into the Oil&Gas sector for inspiration and solutions. At this moment he is involved in this process, actively working on a new concept that should reduce costs for the O&M, allowing a more sustainable activity.
