The final evaluation grade will depend upon:
- Average grade of prior exams
- Quality of the thesis project
If the Supervisor deems the student’s work/project as particularly remarkable, he/she can ask for the assignment of an External Reviewer.
The External Reviewer is an expert of themes addressed in the thesis (academic or professional), reads the thesis and then takes part to the graduation session and poses questions to the candidate. The name of the External Reviewer must be notified by the Supervisor to the President of the Graduation Board prior to the thesis session by email.
The Graduation Board will assign the final evaluation grade according to the following criteria:
- average score achieved by the student during his/her academic career, provided by the Student Administration Office.
- up to 5 additional points for the thesis project/dissertation (up to 7 points if an External Reviewer has been assigned), of which: up to 3 points awarded on proposal of the Supervisor; up to 2 points by decision of the Graduation Board; up to 2 points awarded on proposal of the External Reviewer (if present).
If the resulting final grade is higher than 110 but lower than 113, then final evaluation grade will be 110/110.
If the resulting grade is equal to or higher than 113, the Supervisor may propose to award honours / laude. The proposal must be approved unanimously by all the members of the Graduation Board.
