Psychologist of Wellbeing and Social Inclusivity

Function in a professional context:
Professionals in this role develop promotion and prevention interventionprojects to cope with critical issues that interfere with the wellbeing ofindividuals and society, taking into particular account the multiplicity ofgroups that characterise our current multicultural society.
-They analyse risk and protective factors in development using observational and assessment tools and tackle issues related to typical andatypical development from infancy to adolescence in educational and clinicalcontexts.
-They analyse the impact of the use of digital technologies onpsychological development.
-They address factors related to personal and social identitydevelopment in adolescence by considering also the functional and or dysfunctional outcomes of this process,basin on the acquired knowledge of mechanisms related to neural plasticity, psychological flexibility,and social and affective cognitive development.
-They identify and understand the effects ofchronic diseases due to maladaptive and risky lifestyles, increased longevity and social and environmental factors throughclinical assessment tools.
- They promote the integration of majority and minority group members who populate in in today's multicultural society.
- They deal with socio-cognitive outcomesof social prejudice and seek to implement strategies aimed at reducingethnocentrism, fanatism, marginalisationby promoting intergroup contact.
-They deal with typical and atypical childdevelopment in order to promote communicative-linguistic, cognitive andsocio-relational skills of children under of biological and socialvulnerability conditions working in teams with teachers, speech therapists, childpsychiatrists, paediatricians, anthropologists and sociologists.

-They participate in and coordinate teams addressing psychological problems related to lifestylesthat can harm mental and physical health, chronic and degenerative diseasesrelated to increased longevity.
- They participate and coordinate working groups, aimed at the the goalthe social inclusivity of minoritygroups.

Competences associated to the function:
- Ability to coordinate working groups.
- Ability to diagnose critical issues related to individual and group wellbeing, touse technology and to socially include minority groups in educational andclinical contexts.
- Ability to design interdisciplinary research projects aimed at studying wellbeing and social inclusivity issues.
- Ability to plan integrated projects involving the intervention of diverse professional figures in order to promotesocial inclusivity of migrants and other minority groups in educationalcontexts.
- Ability to plan interventions involving qualified teams to promotecommunicative-linguistic, cognitive and socio-relational development ineducational contexts and to address critical issues related to biological and social vulnerabilityin early infancy and adolescence.
- Ability to plan interventions to be implemented in conjunction with otherprofessional figures in order to assess and promote wellbeing and quality of life ofindividuals affected by chronic diseaseslinked to increased longevity.

Career opportunities:
- Freelance professional subject to passing the State exam andregistration to the Association ofPsychologists.
- Public and private national institutions: health, education andtraining institutes
- International organisations.

Psychology graduates may also assume managerial roles in public bodies thatare aimed to promote romoting wellbeing and social inclusivity such as national public institutions, health,education and training institutes, or in international research bodies such asthe WHO or the United Nations.
