Title: Non-invasive and micro-invasive analysis for the characterization of artistic materials and study of the relationships between materials, microclimatic conditions, air quality and vulnerability to degradation in mixed collections.

The research activity will mainly focus on:

- definition of a diagnostic plan for the identification of the constituent, overlying and deteriorated materials of the artworks under study and pertaining to the context of the Royal Palace of Turin;

- execution and interpretation of non-invasive and micro-destructive analyses. In particular, analysis of surfaces with portable microscopy, molecular FTIR analysis in reflectance mode and construction of related reference database, ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry micro-destructive analysis;

- assessment of indoor air quality, identification of potential sources of pollution present in the selected rooms of the Royal Palace and correlation with the degradation problems encountered.
