DILMI KOLAMUNNAGE (Sri Lanka – Italy)

Can you briefly describe yourself and your study experience before SEM?

I was born in Sri Lanka but I grew up in Italy. I graduated in Economics and Management at University of Padua and I spent the last year of my  Bachelor Degree as an Erasmus+ Student at the  IESEG - School of Management in France. During  my 9 months exchange I had the chance to live  and study in an international environment and I  had the opportunity to do a 3 months internship in  a French-Vietnamese start up.

So why did you choose the Master’s degree course in SEM in Rimini?

I decided to keep studying in an international environment after my graduation, so I searched for all the English-taught Second Cycle programs in Italy. I found SEM, which I think is a great course in terms of mixing both the scientific and the “humanistic” faces of Economics and Business Administration. Besides, it has a restricted access and a high percentage of international students.

Being a student in SEM, can you summarize your experience studying in Rimini?

I appreciate the multiculturalism of the class: there are students from 10 different countries, plus the Erasmus+ exchange students who attend some of our courses. Therefore, the cultural exchange both in our free time and in study time is great. Another thing I think is innovative is the fact that we learn and apply during projects different professional software, whose knowledge is highly required nowadays in workplaces. Moreover, the city and the Campus are student-friendly and provide many opportunities both within the Academic areas and outside. For example I became a Tutor and I joined the local section of the Erasmus Student Network, which allow me to put in action what I am learning, improving my skills in an exciting environment.
