Call for applications

NEW NAME: COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING

Starting from the academic year 2025/2026, this Master's degree will be renamed Communications Engineering and you will find the new name on the application procedure.

The study plan shall be modified slightly, yet most courses will maintain the same name and contents. Over the next few months you will be able to see the updated study plan.

ADMISSIONS

In order to be admitted and enroll on the Master's degree in Communications Engineering, students should send off an online application.

Admissions to the academic year 2025/2026 are available.

The first intake is for non-EU students only, whereas subsequent ones are for EU and non-EU students alike. It is worth noting admissions will close to non-EU students on July the 2nd, 2025, whereas further intake shall be made available later on to EU students.

Applicants may send off their application according to the admission intakes detailed down below, the admission feedback being available in a three weeks' time after each deadline.

English Proficiency

In order to be admitted, Applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency no lower than B2 level (according to CEFR – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) by producing an International Language Certification such as:

  • IELTS - International English Testing System (5.5-6.0-6.5);
  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language (PBT 507-557; CBT 180-217; IBT 80-99);
  • Trinity College of London (ISE II);
  • Cambridge First Certificate of English;
  • PTE - Academic (59-75);
  • Idoneità curriculare B2 (for those graduated from Italian universities only).

Furthermore, the English proficiency is deemed to be fulfilled by those having obtained a University degree fully delivered English with a minimum length of 2 academic years (120 ECTS) in one EU/EEA country as well as in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. English as a medium of instruction (MOI) should be clearly written down on the transcript of academic records.

Applications without a proper English proficiency certificate shall be deemed not admissible.

Cumulative Grade Point Average and Transcript of Records

When sending off your application, you will be required to enter the name of your Bachelor degree and your CGPA as well as the minimum and maximum CGPA according to the education system you graduated from.

Moreover, Applicants must enter a full transcript of records with exams, the graduation certificate being not enough. Please refer to the admission notice for further information.

Embassy's pre-enrolment

If you have a foreign qualification, read the specific information.

If you are a non-EU citizen resident abroad, read carefully the specific information prepared for you as you are required to go through the embassy's pre-enrollment procedure on the the Universitaly portal.

It is worth poiting out the pre-admission letter is not necessary anymore and therefore not to be sent off to admitted applicants.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Admission Requirements

The admission to the Programme is granted to Applicants that satisfy the curriculum requirements and the necessary prior preparation.

If the curriculum requirements are not satisfied, the access to the Second-cycle Degree in Telecommunications Engineering is denied.

If the curriculum requirements are satisfied, the Applicants’ prior preparation has to be assessed.

The admission is granted if all requirements are fulfilled.

The procedures to verify curriculum requirements and prior preparation are listed below.

Curriculum requirements

For Applicants that have an Italian University degree, the curriculum requirements are described in a more detailed manner in the part of Art. 1 written in Italian.

The same criteria shall also apply to those who hold a University degree obtained abroad (and deemed appropriate by the T.E. Degree Board) for which it is possible to convert the degree score to the Italian system, and to identify the scientific areas and the number of credits obtained in each sector.

Otherwise, if Applicants’ qualification is not consistent with above criteria, their career shall be assessed by the T.E. Degree Board on a case-by-case basis.

Assessment of adequacy of the Applicants' prior preparation

For all Applicants that comply with the curriculum requirements, the verification of their prior preparation is performed on a case-by-case basis by the T.E. Degree Board.

For Applicants that have an Italian University degree, the method for checking the adequacy of the prior preparation is described in a more detailed manner in the Article 1.2 written in Italian (“Adeguatezza della personale preparazione”).

For Applicants that have a University degree obtained abroad, the verification of their prior preparation is performed on a case-by-case basis by the T.E. Degree Board.

Adequate proficiency in English (at least B-2 level, according to CEFR) is required for admission to the Second-cycle Degree in Telecommunications Engineering. Applicants should submit a certificate issued by a recognized institution (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Esol, ...).

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2024 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE of less than or equal to € 27,000. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2024, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2024, at 6:00pm, paying a 100 € penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
