Number of available places and deadlines
In order to guarantee the quality of the educational environment, admission to the GIOCA Program is regulated by a selection process evaluating the applicants' academic preparation, CV and language ability.
For the a.y. 2023/24, the total number of students to be admitted is 30:
- 15 positions are reserved for Non-EU students
- 15 positions are reserved for Italian and EU students
Students who have not completed their first level degree (Bachelor's) may participate in the selection process, but they must graduate before October 31, 2023.

To be admitted to GIOCA it is necessary to have:
- at least a first level degree (Bachelor’s) or an equivalent degree in any discipline from an Italian or foreign university that has been deemed eligible;
- English language knowledge is required. Candidates must possess a minimum B2 level or equivalent in order to be admitted to the selection procedure. Proof of their English language (minimum B2 level) is demonstrated by submitting any one of the following:
- Certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge English Language Assessment, Trinity College London, issued no longer than 6 years prior to the deadline for application. - Attended a first cycle degree held in English (to indicate on the CV form).
- Passed a B2 level English exam in their previous academic study plan.
- English is the student's mother tongue (to indicate on the CV form).
- Have carried out an exchange / internship period of at least 3 months in an English-speaking country.
- Have completed an exchange / internship period of at least 3 months in English in a non-English-speaking country.
- Have a good general knowledge and notions of culture and the arts and have a strong vocation for the relevant contents and topics of the Program.
Admission Procedure
Admission to GIOCA is regulated by an evaluation of the candidate’s preparation. The selection is composed of two parts:
- An evaluation of the CV and of the other documents submitted;
+ evaluation of English language certificate higher than B2 level
+ evaluation of the reference letter (optional)
- An interview to evaluate the commitment, attitude and skills of the candidates and the English level.
To facilitate the participation of students living abroad, it will be possible to hold the interview online (please read carefully the application procedure).
How to apply
The application procedure is available online at STUDENTIONLINE. No paper applications will be accepted.
To register to the application process a fee of 50,00 € is required.
By the deadline, candidates must upload (pdf format) the following required documents:
1) The Curriculum Vitae by filling the “CV Form” published on this page.
2) A copy of a valid identity document (ID card or passport);
3) For Non-EU students: a copy of the permit of stay, if you already own it;
4) A transcript of the First Cycle Degree (Bachelor’s) or of any certification mentioned in the CV;
5) English language certificate;
6) Optional: a signed Reference letter.
Information for International students
If you are an international student (NON-EU), you must do the pre-enrolment at the Italian Embassy for your country in order to apply for entry Visa for reasons of study.
EU and Non-EU students with a foreign degree, once admitted to GIOCA, next to complying with the rules and deadlines established by the University of Bologna, must pre-enrol online through the Universitaly portal by July 2020. For more information:
