Buildingengineers
Function in aprofessional context:
The line of work and profession is that of the designer of buildingworks and engineer with the ability to manage and coordinate professional andbusiness structures (project manager).
This role can be carried out together with and in cooperation withqualified engineers or autonomously, in accordance with the law.
In relation to the working sectors, building engineers can perform thefollowing functions:
- Cooperate in the design of buildings and real estate, managing alloperational, technical and procedural phases of implementation, including liaising with clients, suppliers and the public administration;
- Measure, analyse and assess existing buildings and help to design allarchitectural, functional, structural and systemic aspects of theirredevelopment, in accordance with the law and regulations in force in Italy andin other European countries;
- Recognise the historical and environmental elements of the territoryand draft the related plans for enhancement and protection;
- Participate in interdisciplinary working groups for the implementationof urban projects, with suitable knowledge not only of the technical aspectsbut also their economic feasibility and environmental compatibility;
- Work on the implementation of the building constructions andinfrastructures, drafting and applying safety plans on building sites;
- Cooperate in the management of companies and departments, design andexperiment products, manage their production process and marketing, also withresponsibilities for quality, safety, environmental impacts and businessactivities.
Competenciesassociated to the function:
This professional role has specific engineering competences associatedto the solving of site problems linked to the design and execution of works,both concerning the control of technical, regulatory and process procedures,contract management and relations with public and private clients.
Building engineers working in production companies must have competencesin the control and coordination of production phases in the factory, theformulation of regulatory and practical process protocols, and in checking thequality performance of materials and components.
