Natural Sciences

The Degree Programme sets out to provide the tools for observing, describing and interpreting the natural systems of the earth and the universe, both in terms of their physical aspects and the biosphere, through the application of scientific method. It also sets the aim of training graduates able to measure, identify, classify, analyse, restore and conserve physical and biotic components of natural and semi-natural aquatic and land ecosystems, with particular reference to parks and nature reserves. Furthermore, Natural Science s graduates are able to work as experts in scientific museums and teaching centres.One of the main purposes of the Degree Programme is to prepare graduates able to work in the education and popularization of Nature Sciences (nature educator) through activities in centres such as museums, parks, protected areas and nature reserves. The degree programme provides the scientific bases and theoretical and practical knowledge required to exercise naturalistic professions (environmental operator), both in environmental and teaching sectors as well as for nature popularization. It also provides the methodological and cultural bases for lifelong learning and the methodological foundations of scientific research in the naturalistic sector.

Admission to the Degree Programme requires possession of a secondary school diploma awarded after five years of study or a foreign qualification recognised as suitable.Candidates shall also possess the following knowledge:- good general knowledge;- logical and reasoning skills and verbal understanding;- knowledge of the fundamental notions of mathematics;- English language skills to at least CEFR level B1.The methods for verifying the knowledge required for admission are defined in the degree programme teaching regulations.If the assessment is not positive, additional learning requirements will be specified.Completion of the learning requirements is the subject of a separate test.The relevant testing method is also set out in the degree programme teaching regulations.Students who do not complete the additional learning requirements by the date established by the competent bodies and, in any case, by the end of the first year of the degree programme, will be unable to sit exams in the following years.
