TOLC is a test that evaluates your overall level of preparation. It is a certified tool for the orientation and evaluation of knowledge in specific fields, and helps you understand which is the best option for your University career.
Once you've taken the TOLC test, you may apply to the Programme. The selection will be based on your TOLC score, weighed according to the criteria of the specific Call for applications.
After taking the TOLC you will be able to view and print the result from your profile on the CISIA - Consorzio Interuniversitario Sistemi Integrati per l'Accesso (Consortium of Inter-University Integrated Access Systems) website.
For the present restricted access degree programme, English TOLC-E is required. The test is made of 36 questions (13 on logic, 10 on the comprehension of text, 13 on mathematics) with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes).
Specifically, the following tests are valid for academic year 2024/2025:
- TOLC tests held in person (TOLC@UNI) during 2023
- TOLC tests held in person (TOLC@UNI) during 2024
- TOLC@casa tests held during 2023
- TOLC@casa tests held during 2024 only for non-EU students with residency abroad

You can take the TOLC test at any university, regardless of your intended enrollment institution.
TOLC tests can be taken only in person at all University of Bologna campuses (including Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna, and Rimini).

To take the TOLC test, it is necessary to register in advance, following the deadlines specified by CISIA Enrolment takes place online on the CISIA website. The payment of €30 is required.

After sitting the TOLC, if your score is above the minimum level required, you can register for a selection to enter the rankings list.
You can take the test once per month. Only the result from the most recent TOLC taken by the deadline and following the procedures mentioned in the Call for application is considered valid.
Read the call for applications carefully and follow the instructions on how to register for the selection.
You must register for the selection via Studenti Online and pay the fee of €20.
You can register for the selection before sitting the TOLC.
The selection does not consist of further tests but only in entering the list of merit based on the score obtained in the TOLC, assessed according to the criteria included in the call for applications.
Wait for the lists to be published in your personal profile on Studenti Online.
If the score you obtain in the test – shown in the English TOLC-E certificate that you will be able to see in your profile on the CISIA website – is below the level required, you will be assigned an Additional Learning Requirement (OFA).
If your ranking entitles you to a place you can enrol for the course, in compliance with procedures and deadlines specified by the call, through Studenti Online. If you fail to enrol before the deadline you lose your place.
If your ranking does not entitle you to a place, or if you fail to enrol before deadlines specified in the call, you can either apply for the next Stats&Maths selection (if foreseen) without having to retake the TOLC or having to pay the fee again, or you may indicate your interest in any reallocation places by clicking on the relevant button on Studenti Online and wait for the outcome.
If after the reallocation procedures you are still not entitled to a place, you cannot enrol for the programme unless there are still places available and an extraordinary selection is activated. In such cases, you are invited to read carefully the terms specified in the call.
If you are a student with special needs or learning disabilities, and want to request adaptations to be made for the TOLC test, you must select this option when registering to the TOLC section of the CISIA website.
