Second Cycle Degree/Two Year Master in Archaeology

Preparing the study plan

Information on how to prepare and present a study plan.

What is a study plan?

The study plan is the complete set of exams that you need to pass in order to get your degree. Some exams are compulsory, while others are elective.

Who can submit a study plan?

A study plan can be submitted by properly enrolled students who have paid their tuition fees and, in case of international students, who hold a valid residence permit.

When to submit your study plan?

You can submit and amend your study plan in two distinct periods during the academic year.

The open windows for the a.y. 2026-27 are:
– from October 5th, 2026 to November 26th, 2026
from January 11th, 2027 to April 9th, 2027

Study plans submitted by November 26th, 2026 can be changed during the period from January 11h to April 9th, 2027.

After the deadline of April 9th, 2027, the most recently submitted study plan will be considered valid and no further change may be made.

Once the study plan has been filled in online, it is immediately available on the AlmaEsami platform.

You may only sit an exam if the course has been included in your study plan and if the lectures have been completed.

Students intending to graduate within a.y. 2025-26 (= within the graduation session of March 2027), cannot submit a new study plan or change the study plan previously submitted.

Students who pay the first instalment of their tuition fees for the new academic year and change their study plan will not be able to present their graduation request for March 2027.

Attention: Studentes enrolled in years following the first who wish to change a teaching referred to years preceding  their enrolment, will NOT be able to sit nor verbalize  the modified exam until the end of the current academic year's lectures.

Eligible Courses among UNIBO teachings

In the "Eligible courses among UniBo teachings" group, you may include:

  • Learning activities offered by your Degree Programme that have not already been included elsewhere in your study plan.
  • Learning activities offered by open-access Degree Programmes of the University (selected among those offered by First-cycle Degree Programmes if you are enrolled in a First-cycle Degree, and among those offered by First-cycle, Second-cycle or Single-cycle Degree Programmes if you are enrolled in a Second-cycle Degree Programme).

The types of learning activities that can be included as free-choice are:

  • course units
  • language proficiency activities
  • seminars

It is not possible to include laboratories or internships, unless they are already offered by your Degree Programme within the free-choice group at the time of completion of your study plan.

It is not possible to include separate modules which are part of integrated courses (C.I.).

When filling in the online study plan, the system will allow you to search for learning activities by entering the course code, title or the teacher's name.

Adding Learning Activities from restricted-access degree programmes

To include, among your free-choice credits, course units offered by restricted-access Degree Programmes, you must follow this procedure:

  1. Check whether the same course unit is also offered in open-access Degree Programmes and, if so, select it from there and enter it directly in your online study plan.
  1. If the course unit is only offered in restricted-access Degree Programmes, ask the Degree Programme Director  responsible for the degree programme to which the activity belongs to for permission to include the exam in your study plan. The request must be sent from your institutional email address (@studio.unibo.it).
  1. Once you have obtained the Degree Programme Director's approval, fill in your online study plan within the deadlines and include a placeholder course unit among the free-choice credits.
  1. Then, contact the Student Administration Office (link) requesting the change. The request must be submitted as follows:

o   subject: "Richiesta inserimento attività da corso a numero chiuso"

o   include the following information:

  • Your first and last name;
  • your student ID number;
  • code and name of the placeholder course unit to be removed;
  • code and name of the course unit you want to add to your study plan;

o   include the Degree Programme Director's approval (attach a screenshot, including your original request to the Degree Programme Director).

How to submit your study plan

1. Studenti Online

If you are a properly enrolled student, you can submit or change your study plan via Studenti Online . The service is only available during periods when submissions are permitted.

If you are a student who has applied to switch or transfer courses, or who has enrolled on a Second-cycle Degree Programme with credit recognition from the 2017/18 academic year onwards, you must complete the study plan via Studenti Online.

After making your choices, click on “save”  to complete the process. Also, we suggest to print a copy of the submitted study plan to check for formal or substantive errors that might arise after the upload.

Hard-copy forms

You are required to present your study plan exclusively in hard-copy if:

  • you enrolled after a.a. 2020-21 and you are currently "fuori corso” (you do not graduate within the end of the second year of the program)
  • you enrolled as part-time student

You must hand-in the hard-copy to the Student Administration Office in Viale Filopanti 1 (entrance from Mura Anteo Zamboni 2/a) during the opening hours.
