Admission

In order to enrol on the Master's degree in Building Engineering-Architecture (curriculum Architectural Engineering), applicants should comply with the regulations included in the Call for Applications.

Curriculum requirements

If you hold an Italian degree title, the minimum admission requirement for this Master’s Programme is a Bachelor’s degree of the L-17,  (or of the class 04 ex Ministerial decree no. 509/1999), L-7 or L-23 class. In any case, you must own a certificate that states you have passed the selection test, named ARCHED. Furthermore, if you hold a degree title in the classes L-7 or L-23, you must own at least 108 credit referred to the essential training activities shown in the table relating to the degree class in Architecture Sciences L17, as established by the Ministerial Decree of 16 March 2007 " Determination of university degree classes”, in accordance with directive 85/384 EEC and related recommendations. 

If you hold a foreign University degree certificate, the Evaluation Board will assess whether you meet the requirements set.

In order to be admitted to the Master's degree in Building Engineering-Architecture, you are required to have university-level knowledge of the basic disciplines of engineering and architecture, technological and structural design, architectural and urban design.

Adequacy of the academic preparation

Admission to the master's degree is conditional on the successful assessment of the adequacy of the candidate’s preparation by an Evalutation Board that will assess:

  • the training curriculum: weighted average of exam grades and graduation mark, list of exams taken with contents and credits (syllabi)
  • portfolio of works, including texts and iconographic material, documented internship or extracurricular work experience, which will be evaluated according to criteria of originality and consistency of content, formal quality, argumentative and communicative ability, linguistic expression;
  • fully documented internship or extra-curricular work experience, certified by the companies, relevant and significant for the training of an architect building engineer. The internship should not have been used to validate credits (ECTS) in the previous career; the start and end dates must be specified for each of the internship or extracurricular work experiences.
  • other certified and documented research or extracurricular training titles, relevant and significant for the training of an architect and which have not been used to validate previous credits (ECTS).

The Call for Applications will specify the criteria and the weighing that will be assigned to the documents required to better verify the adequacy of the personal preparation.

Admission to the degree course is subject to the knowledge of the English language (at least B1 level). Please carefully read the Call in order to know more about how to certificate this knowledge.

Scholarships and grants

Students interested in applying for scholarships and grants for International Students (Unibo Action 2, Unibo Action 1, Er-go support services, MAECI grant) should be aware that these applications involve an additional and different procedure. We suggest applicants, especially non-EU students, should apply for scholarships offered by the University of Bologna as early as possible.

Accommodation

Applicants should themselves take care of their Bologna’s lodgings: securing a position in a Master’s degree does not imply being granted accommodation as well.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
