Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods

NOTE: The application procedures is not open yet - it will open as soon as the call for applications is published.

This programme has a limited number of available positions therefore, in order to enrol in the degree programme, it is necessary to:

  • meet all the admission requirements;
  • submit your application on Studenti Online within the deadline indicated in the call for applications;
  • obtain the minimum required score;
  • be ranked within the number of available places.

Read carefully the information contained within the call for applications:  it is the official document to give notice of the most important details and selection procedures, criteria and deadlines.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS 

For the academic year 2021/2022 the total number of students admitted to the international curricula “Business and Administration”/“Food System Management” of the 2nd-cycle degree programme in “Economics and Management”  is 50, divided as it follows:

  • n. 42 positions for Italian, EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status only;
  •  n. 8 positions for non-EU citizens residing abroad only (if the positions are not fully covered, they will be made available to the EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status quotas).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To apply for the B&A programme, you must meet the following requirements:

1) you must have obtained:

    • A three-year First Cycle Degree/Bachelor's degree  (or you must complete it by October, 31stbelonging to one of the following course classes according to the Italian Ministerial Decree D.M. 270/04:  
      • L-14 Legal Services
      • L-15 Tourism
      • L-16 Administration and organization sciences
      • L-18 Environmental economics and management
      • L-25 Agriculture and forestry
      • L-26 Food science and technology
      • L-33 Economics
      • L-36 Political science and international relations
      • L-37 Peace studies
      • L-41 Statistics
      • An equivalent Italian qualification running under the previous degree programme system or any other qualification issued by a non-Italian University, deemed valid.
  • OR, a total amount of 48 ECTS credits by the date of the application in the specific scientific-disciplinary sectors (SDS) such as Business, Economics, Law, Mathematics-Statistics, at least 30 of which obtained in the Business SDS (Scientific Disciplinary Sector):
    • Business SDS : SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/08 Economics and Management, SECS-P/09 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/10 Business organization, SECS-P/11 Financial Institutions Management;
    • Economics SDS: SECS-P/01 Political Economics, SECS-P/02 Economic Politics, SECS-P/03 Public Finance, SECS-P/05 Econometrics, SECS-P/12 Economic History;
    • Law SDS: IUS/01 Private Law, IUS/04 Business Law, IUS/05 Economic Law, IUS/07 Labour Law, IUS/09 Institutions of Public Law, IUS/10 Administrative Law, IUS/12 Tax Law, IUS/14 European Union Law;
    • Mathematics-Statistics SDS: SECS-S/01 Statistics, SECS-S/03 Economic Statistics, SECS-S/04 Demography, SECS-S/06 Actuarial and Financial Mathematical Methods.

If you obtained your qualification abroad, the Examining Committee will evaluate the correspondence between the disciplinary field of your studies and the Course Classes (ex-Italian Ministerial Decree D.M.270/04) or the amount of credits in the scientific-disciplinary sectors mentioned above.

2) Provide evidence of your proficiency in English (at B2 level of the Common European Framework)

The linguistic requirement is considered met if you submit one of the English Language certificates or self-certifications indicated in the call for applications. PLEASE NOTE: it is not compulsory to submit a certificate to be admitted to the selection procedure. If you do not submit one, the Examining Board will assess your English language proficiency during the oral interview.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Connect to Studenti Online (http://www.studenti.unibo.it/) and create an account in the “Registrati” section (if you have already registered, enter your username and password to access the online service); Non-Italian students who do not hold an Italian Tax ID (“codice fiscale”) can click on “International student registration” and follow the instructions for the creation of institutional User ID and Password; After the first access the password must be changed. It is important to remember the User ID and Password as they will always be requested for access to your personal profile at www.studenti.unibo.it.;  
  • click on “Entrance exams or requirements check” button;
  • select “Second cycle degree programme” and click “Next”
  • select “Economics and Management” (Economia e Management) and then select the curriculum “Business and Administration and Food System Management”;
  • UPLOAD all the required SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
    • ID document
    • Transcript of records and graduation certificate (if already obtained);
    • Presentation letter written by the candidate (in English);
  • UPLOAD other OPTIONAL DOCUMENTS:
    • B2 English Language certificate
    • permit of stay
    • certificates of professional/studying experiences abroad;
    • Indicate the name/s and e-mail address of the teacher or manager who will upload online the candidate’s reference letter
  • Check your application!
  • PAY for the APPLICATION FEE (50 euros)
  • Check if you are admitted to the second phase (interview) on Studenti Online;
  • If you are admitted: check your interview date in the scheduled session and take the interview on the date specified.
  • Check the final ranking to verify if you are admitted, eligible or not eligible to enrol in the degree course:
    • If you are admitted: follow the procedures and deadlines indicated in the call for applications to enrol in the programme!
    • If you are eligible, declare your interest to enter the clearing procedure according to the deadlines established in the call for application and check if you are admitted to enrol
    • If you are not eligible, you cannot enrol in the degree programme.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

The evaluating procedure is composed of two phases:

1st phase (up to 50 points – min 15/50)

The Examining Board will evaluate the documents submitted by the candidate during the application process and will draw a final ranking according to the following criteria:

  • Academic merit: up to 35 points (the points are assigned proportionately to the candidates' weighted average in a scale from 0 to 35)
  • Certificate studying or working experience abroad: up to 5 points
  • Letter of presentation written by the candidate (in English): up to 5 points
  • Reference Letters issued by teachers or employers during your university career: up to 5 points.

The candidates who obtain the minimum required points in the 1st phase are admitted to the second one; for the EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status quota only, the number of candidates admitted to the second phase is no more than three times the available places for each intake.

2nd phase (up to 50 points -  min. 30/50): Interview in English. During the interview, the Examining Board will evaluate candidates’ logical reasoning, flexibility, relational skills along with the level of fluency, interaction and comprehension.

The final results will be expressed as a sum of the points obtained in the first and second phase

DEADLINES AND INTAKES

There are two intakes.

If you have already participated in the first intake, you can participate in the second one unless you have been considered not eligible in the fist intake. You will preserve the score obtained during the interview (if you have been admitted to the interview), while you will be evaluated again for the 1st phase.

1st intake:

  • 22 places for EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status quota
  • 6 places for non-EU citizens residing abroad

2nd intake:

  • 20 places for EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status quota + residual positions from the 1st intake
  • 2 places for non-EU citizens residing abroad+ residual positions from the 1st intake

Very Important: Non EU students

Please contact the Italian Embassy in your home country as soon as possible in order to double check their deadline for the pre-enrollment and apply for the Pre-Enrollment at the University of Bologna

MATRICULATION

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enroll on Studenti online:

  1. complete the application for matriculation with the required data and attach an ID photograph in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of tuition fees.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the procedure and receive your badge specified in the call for applications

Remember that to complete matriculation

  1. a) if you are a non-EU citizen with EU equivalent status, you need to send a copy of the valid residence permit giving you EU equivalent status to the responsible Student Administration Office;
  2. b) if you are a non-EU citizen residing abroad, see the detailed information. You will need to send to the responsible Student Administration Office a copy of your valid residence permit or, if your residence permit has not yet been issued, a copy of your study entry visa and subsequently a copy of the receipt confirming submission of your application, with which your matriculation will be accepted subject to verification;
  3. c) if you have a degree obtained abroad, see the detailed information. You will need to send the degree documentation to the responsible Student Administration Office.

If you have a disability with an assessed level of invalidity of at least 66%, or you hold disability certification in accordance with Italian law 104/92, you can request exemption by sending the certificate proving the condition to the email address of the responsible Student Administration Office

Matriculation
