Programme enrolment: requirements, deadlines and methods

AVAILABLE POSITIONS 

For the academic year 2018/2019 the total number of students admitted to the international curricula “Business and Administration” and “Food System Management” of the 2nd-cycle degree programme in “Economics and Management”  is 50.

The first year courses are common for B&A and FoodSys programmes, so admission to B&A and FoodSys Degree programmes is regulated by a single evaluating procedure; the total number of availabe positions for B&A+FoodSys is 50, divided as it follows:

  • n. 42 positions for Italian, EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status only;
  •  n. 8 positions for non-EU citizens residing abroad only

If the positions reserved to non-EU citizens residing abroad are not fully covered, they will be made available to the EU citizens and non-EU citizens with equivalent status quotas.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Before you apply, make sure you meet the entry requirements specified in the call for applications

To apply for the B&A programme, you must meet the following (two) requirements:

1.  you must have obtained a three-year First Cycle Degree/Bachelor's degree  (or you must complete it by October, 31st) belonging to one of the following course classes according to the Italian Ministerial Decree D.M. 270/04:

    •  L-14 Legal Services
    • L-15 Tourism
    • L-16 Administration and organization sciences
    • L-18 Environmental economics and management
    • L-25 Agriculture and forestry
    • L-26 Food science and technology
    • L-33 Economics
    • L-36 Political science and international relations
    • L-37 Peace studies
    • L-41 Statistics
    • or an equivalent Italian qualification running under the previous degree programme system
    • or any other qualification issued by a non-Italian University, deemed valid

OR

you must have obtained, by the date of the application, a total amount of 48 ECTS credits in the specific scientific-disciplinary sectors (SDS) such as Business, Economics, Law, Mathematics-Statistics, at least 30 of which obtained in the Business SDS (ScientificDisciplinary Sector):

  • Business SDS : SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/08 Economics and Management, SECS-P/09 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/10 Business organization, SECS-P/11 Financial Institutions Management;
  • Economics SDS: SECS-P/01 Political Economics, SECS-P/02 Economic Politics, SECS-P/03 Public Finance, SECS-P/05 Econometrics, SECS-P/12 Economic History;
  • Law SDS: IUS/01 Private Law, IUS/04 Business Law, IUS/05 Economic Law, IUS/07 Labour Law, IUS/09 Institutions of Public Law, IUS/10 Administrative Law, IUS/12 Tax Law, IUS/14 European Union Law;
  • Mathematics-Statistics SDS: SECS-S/01 Statistics, SECS-S/03 Economic Statistics, SECS-S/04 Demography, SECS-S/06 Actuarial and Financial Mathematical Methods.

If you obtained your qualification abroad, the Examining Committee will evaluate the correspondence between the disciplinary field of your studies and the Course Classes (ex Italian Ministerial Decree D.M.270/04) or the amount of credits in the scientific-disciplinary sectors mentioned above.

 

2. Provide evidence of your proficiency in English (at B2 level of the Common European Framework)

The linguistic requirement is considered met if you submit one of the following English Language certificates or self-certifications:

  • Language certifications (B2 or above) among those listed at the following page: http://www.cla.unibo.it/risorse/files/tabella-equipollenza-titoli,  issued from the 1st of January 2016 on;
  • Certifications (or self-certifications) attesting primary, secondary or higher/academic education qualifications obtained in countries where courses are provided exclusively in English;
  •  Certifications (or self-certifications) attesting that you have successfully completed an English course (Level B2 or above) or a so-called ‘idoneità linguistica B2’ as defined in your study plan obtained from the 1st of January 2016 on. The achieved level needs to be clearly stated on the certificate, otherwise it will not be considered valid;
  •  Certifications (or self-certifications) attesting that you have obtained at least 60 ECTS credits in learning activities held in English as defined in your study plan (completed in Italy or abroad through mobility programmes). The certification will be considered valid only if you passed the last exam not before 1st of January 2016

 PLEASE NOTE: it is not compulsory to submit one of the above-mentioned certificates to be admitted to the selection procedure. The Examining Board will assess your English language competence during the oral interview.

HOW TO APPLY

To submit your application, you have to complete the following procedure by the deadline specified in the call for applications:

- If you have a foreign qualification read the specific information before continuing.
- If you are a non-EU citizen resident abroad read the specific information prepared for you.

This programme has a limited number of available positions therefore, in order to enrol in the degree programme, it is necessary to:

  •  meet all the admission requirements
  • obtain a score that is not lower than the established minimum (minim score for the 1st phase: 30/50; minimum score for the 2nd pahse: 30/50)
  • be ranked within the number of available places (50).

In order to submit your application you must:

1. Connect to Studenti Online and create an account in the “Registrati” section (if you have already registered, enter your username and password to access the online service); Non-Italian students who do not hold an Italian Tax ID (“codice fiscale”) can click on “International student registration” and follow the instructions for the creation of institutional User ID and Password; After the first access the password must be changed. It is important to remember the User ID and Password as they will always be requested for access to your personal profile at www.studenti.unibo.it.;    

2. click on “Entrance exams or requirements check” button;

3. select “Second cycle degree programme” and click “Next”

4. select “Economics and Management” (Economia e Management) and then select the curriculum “Business and Administration and Food System Management”;

5. Fill in the online application form and upload the following SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (.pdf format):    

  • Copy of a valid ID document (ID card, driving license or passport) printed on both sides;
  • Copy of a valid permit of stay, in case the candidate already has it;
  • Copy of the Graduation certificate (if already obtained);
  • list of exams passed with respective results, credits and SDS (please the admission requirements)
  • (optional) Reference letters written on headed paper and signed in original (reference letters are optional but, if relevant, they may increase candidates’ final score);
  • (optional) certificates attesting professional/studying experiences abroad;
  •  (optional) English language qualification(s) of at least B2 level (to fulfil the admission requirements, no additional points awarded)

Please note: the application form must be written in English, the remaining documents can be delivered in English or Italian (or translated in one of these two languages).

6. Pay the registration fee for the admission procedure (50,00 €). Under no circumstances the application fee is refundable.

 Only candidates who successfully complete the online application - attaching all the compulsory supporting documents - and pay the relevant registration fee by the specified deadlines and conditions are admitted to the selection procedure.

PLEASE NOTE: it is under candidates’ responsibility to verify that all compulsory documents are properly uploaded online.

WHAT TO DO AFTER APPLYING

After completing your application, please remind that you have to take the following steps according to the deadlines established in the call for application:

  • Check if you are admitted to the second phase of the selection procedure (interview) on Studenti Online;
  • If you are admitted to the interview, check when it is scheduled and if you need to change your scheduled interview sessions (only in justified cases) or if you require a skype interview (only in justified cases), contact immediately the School at ems.fo.international@unibo.it.
  • Take the interview in the scheduled session
  • Check the final ranking to verify if you are admitted, eligible or not eligible to enrol in the degree course:
  •  If you are admitted that means that you are able to enrol in the degree course following the procedures and deadlines indicated in the call for application. Find out how to enrol in the degree programme. Please note that if you do not complete your enrolment by the established deadline, you will automatically lose your right to enrol in the degree programme.
  • If you are eligible, that means that you meet the requirements to enrol but you ranked after the last available position. Anyway please note that in some selections you can participate in the clearing procedure: if some of the admitted students do not complete their enrolment, their positions will be made available for those candidates deemed eligible (according to the ranking) and you could be able to enrol.  If you are eligible and you would like to participate in the clearing procedure, please remind that you have to declare your interest to enter the clearing procedure according to the deadlines established in the call for application otherwise you will be excluded from any subsequent phase of the process. Then you have to check the number of available positions and the final ranking for the clearing procedure. If you are admitted, you will be able to enrol according to the deadlines and procedures established in the call for applications. Please also note that in some cases, two clearing procedures may take place.
  • If you are not eligible, you cannot enrol in the degree programme.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE

The Evaluating procedure is composed of two phases:

1st phase (up to 50 points – min 30/50)

The Examining Board will evaluate the documents submitted by the candidate during the application process and will draw a final ranking according to the following criteria:

  • Academic merit: up to 40 points;    
  • A certification (or self-certification if provided for by the Italian law) attesting studying or working experience abroad: up to 5 points. Previous substantial international experiences of considerable length or professional qualified international experiences abroad will be positively evaluated, such as consistent study exchanges (i.e. Erasmus, Overseas, etc.), working experiences or internships abroad.
  • Letters of reference issued by employers or teachers during your university career: up to 5 points.
       

2nd phase (up to 50 points -  min. 30/50)             

Interview in English: only candidates deemed eligible after phase 1 are invited to the interview. During the interview, the Examining Board will evaluate candidates’ logical reasoning, flexibility, relational skills along with the level of fluency, interaction and comprehension.

FINAL RESULTS

Assessment results will be expressed as a sum of the points obtained in the first and second phase. Candidates who obtained at least 30/50 in the first and second phase will be considered eligible and will be listed in the final ranking of merit.

Where candidates receive the same score, priority will be given to the younger candidate.

The final ranking will ONLY be officially notified on Studenti Online (www.studenti.unibo.it)

ENROLMENT FOR ADMITTED STUDENTS/MATRICULATION

After you have been admitted to the degree programme, in order to complete the enrolment process, you must:

  1. Connect to Studenti Online
  2. Select “Enrolments”, then “Laurea Magistrale” and finally “Economics and Management” (Economia e Management);
  3. confirm the chosen curriculum (“Business and Administration”)
  4. Fill in the gaps with the required information and upload a .JPG passport photo.
  5. Pay the first instalment of the annual tuition fee according to the methods and conditions indicated on Studenti Online
  6. Moreover, candidates are required to go to the Student Administration Office  of Forlì Campus – Padiglione Melandri, Piazzale Solieri 1 with a valid ID card to proceed with students’ identification, activation of the students’ career and for the badge release to have access to the University services (wifi, study plan, exams, libraries). If you decide to visit the Student administration office on the day when you paid for the first instalment, please take the payment receipt with you.

Students with disabilities with recognized invalidity of at least 66%, independently of their economic or merit status, are exempted from the payment of university fees. The exemption is obtained submitting to the student administration office a certificate attesting your conditions in accordanceto L104/92 should provide a copy of the certificate as indicated in the following webpage.

If you obtained your academic qualification in a foreign University, you shall submit the Student administration office the following documents:

  • the original degree certificate (or an authenticated copy)  that needs to be legalized and translated into Italian (The translation into Italian is not necessary if the qualification and certificates of exams are issued in French, English, German, Spanish)

  • The declaration of value (‘dichiarazione di valore’) of the degree, provided by the Italian diplomatic/consulate representative having territorial jurisdiction.

 

Non-EU citizens also need to deliver:

-  a copy (front and back) of a valid Permit of Stay or the receipt issued by the Post Office confirming that a permit of stay has been applied for; in the latter case, the completion of the enrolment procedure is conditional upon the exhibition of the permit of stay.

 - check detailed information about the specific procedures to follow at and deliver the documents released by the embassy (pre-enrolment form, certified photo) to the student administration office.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on Studenti online:

  1. complete the application for matriculation with the required data and attach an ID photograph in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of tuition fees.

Next, go to the Student Administration Office with a valid ID document to collect your student card and obtain access to the University services (such as wifi, libraries, online study plans, exam registration). If you decide to go to the Student Administration Office on the day that you pay the first instalment of your tuition fees, please bring the payment receipt with you. 

If you have a previous university qualification or have completed university course units, you can apply for a shortened degree programme.

If you are a student with disabilities (with a minimum recognised degree of disability of 66%, or if you own have certification issued pursuant to Law 104/92), you are entitled to obtain exemption from tuition fees.

If you have a foreign citizenship and/or qualification, you must also hand in the following documents to the  Student Administration Office:
