Working students: recognition of the elective internship

Working students can ask the recognition of their working experience as an internship activity (if they chose the internship as an elective).

The internship committee gives notice that previous working experience will be considered equivalent to an elective internship only if the student’s final report includes a detailed description of the training project,  performed tasks, accomplishments and supporting evidence of the educational nature of the activity in order to justify the credit allocation.  Repetitive tasks and routine activities shall not be considered satisfactory. The committee reserves the right to determine whether a working activity fulfils the learning outcomes of the course on the basis of any information it may consider relevant.

Before providing the compulsory documents to the Intership Office, students are required to contact the teacher and ask him/her to approve the request. Once the request has been approved by the teacher, it will then be assessed and validated by the Internship Committe.

The Committee reserves the right to assess each case at its discretion.

 

REQUIREMENTS TO ASK FOR THE RECOGNITION 

To ask for the recognition of the internship, it is necessary to meet the following criteria: 

  1. The working student must have an employment contract  that proves the existence of a working relation.
  2. The working activity must not have ended more than 12 months prior to the request.
  3. The working activity needs to be consistent to the Degree course Learning activities
  4. The legal responsible, the business partner or the director/executive of the company cannot be relatives of the student till the second degree of kinship.
       

N.B.: Also for the recognition of working activity as internship, the student will have to show to be regularly enrolled in the academic year in which the internship is planned.

 DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT TO ASK FOR THE RECOGNITION

Students who meet the above mentioned conditions can ask for the recognition of the internship, submitting the following documents to the Internship Office:

  1. Student report (max 1 page long)  including:  the institution where the activity was carried out,  the working period, a detailed description of the training project, performed tasks, accomplishments and supporting evidence of the educational nature of the activity in order to justify the credit allocation.    NOTE:  The employer must sign the student report, stating that what was reported by the student complies with the activity that has been carried out.
  2. Statement by the employer on headed paper, with the stamp of the institution and readable signature of the company responsible, stating the students's position within the company;
  3. Form to request for the recognition of the working activity as curricular internship

EVALUATION OF THE RECOGNITION REQUESTS AND RELATED REGISTRATION

 

The Internship board meets on a monthly basis and reserves the right to assess each case at its discretion The approved requests will be registered on Almaesami.

Please note: It is possible to submit only one recognition request for the same working activity

It is under student's responsibility to make sure that the registration is made well in advance to graduation deadlines.
