5885 - Greening Energy Market and Finance
The second cycle degree/two year master inGreening Energy market and Finance is a multi-disciplinary project aiming toprovide students with a broad cultural and rigorous academic training to beable to analyse and manage the problems linked to the transition to alow-carbon economy, using financial innovation to guide businesses in thisdelicate passage and fostering risk control policies. The referenceprofessional figure is “Sustainable Energy Expert”.
This highly quantitative and practical course has the typicalmultidisciplinary attention to financial sciences working towardssustainability and with an emphasis on highly innovative instruments andmethodologies. In addition to the core course units focusing on the acquisitionof the required competences in mathematical and probabilistic areas for therepresentation of climatic variables and generally the risk induced by markettransition, the degree programme develops competences in the economic andfinancial, statistical and IT, environmental and managerial policy fields aswell as specific competences relating to engineering technologies relating torenewable sources needed to support the market in achieving the 2030 goals, andis therefore an absolutely innovative programme.
After the first semester focusing on the main quantitative instrumentsapplied to the issues of economic and financial sustainability, the secondsemester investigates major issues relating to the technologies of renewablesources, modelling and the construction of predictive models of impactingnatural variables (e.g., weather and climate variables) using simulation toolsand machine-learning approaches. These models are implemented to developspecific programming skills required for the programme, as well as laboratory workaiming to acquire competences in the main programming languages, includingPython. Curricular specialisation in “Renewable Technologies”, “EnvironmentalFinance” or “Business and Climate Science” offers in-depth studies inengineering, finance or statistics-economics-business respectively, and in thesecond year a mandatory internship may also be used to develop topics for thefinal dissertation.
