The International Master’s Degree Program in Molecular and Computational Biology integrates, in a coherent and unified pathway, advanced expertise in cellular and molecular biology with bioinformatics and the computational analysis of biological data, addressing the emerging needs of biomedical research and the life sciences.
The study program in Molecular and Computational Biology, delivered entirely in English, includes core courses common to all students as well as optional modules designed to ensure proper alignment of knowledge. This structure allows students coming from diverse academic backgrounds to select courses that best meet their specific educational needs, following a student‑centred learning approach.
The program is organized into two tracks: a biomolecular track (Cell Biology curriculum) and a biocomputational track (Bioinformatics curriculum) — both characterized by laboratory activities (wet‑lab or dry‑lab, respectively) consistent with the chosen specialization.
Interdisciplinarity and cross‑fertilization between the two curricula are ensured through optional and elective courses accessible to students in both tracks during the first and second year, as well as through transversal training modules designed to provide complementary skills. These include teamwork for the analysis and resolution of complex problems requiring the integration of biomolecular and biocomputational approaches. Practical skill acquisition is guaranteed by an extended internship, which occupies a large part of the second year and represents a distinctive feature of the Master’s program.
Graduates will be able to work in interdisciplinary contexts such as academic and industrial research, public and private healthcare, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, bioinformatics companies, biological data analysis and management, software development, and science communication. The program also provides a solid foundation for admission to research doctorates or international PhD programs.
