Writing your thesis
The final thesis should be written in English and should be a report of the research project work indicating the scientific results achieved during the student’s internship period.
Graduation and final examination
The dissertation must be written in a standardised manner with the following requirements:
- Pages of 32/35 lines – each of 65/70 characters of an established type: New Times Roman, Courier New, Helvetica
(These indications refer to a fully written page, without notes and pictures)
- Basic text formatting:
- Use 12-point type
- Use a line-spacing of 1.5
- Use a 3 cm margin on the right side, 3 cm on the left side, and 3 cm on the top and bottom
- Citation style suggested IEEE Citation style (however, another citation style can be used if the supervisor indicates it)
- No fixed lengths of pages but they generally vary from 80 to 120 pages (pictures, graphs, tables included).
The delivery of hard copies of the thesis to the Segreteria Studenti is not required. Should it be requested by the degree programme or the supervisor, it must comply with the following requirements:
- Light-coloured, non-glossy cardboard cover
- Figures and tables in UNI format (A4, A3)
- Properly sized board container (A3, correct thickness)
- Glue binding with the exclusion of metal or plastic staples or spirals
Organisation of the written thesis
The written thesis should be organised in chapters and sub-chapters. It is advisable to follow the following scheme:
- Introduction
- Research objectives
- Materials and methods
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Bibliography
