The European Master's in Translation (EMT) is a quality label for higher education programmes that meet agreed professional standards and market demands. It is awarded by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission.
The Master's in Specialized Translation (and its forerunner, the "Masters's in Traduzione Specializzata") has been part of the EMT network since its foundation in 2009. As of 2017, the network includes more than 50 MA programmes from all over Europe.
MA programmes included in the EMT are committed to improving the quality of translator training and enhancing the labour market integration of young language professionals. By training highly-skilled translators in close cooperation with the language industry, the EMT seeks, in the long run, to enhance the status of the entire translation profession in the EU.
