The Programme background
For more than ten years both the institutions have supported student exchanges within the framework of an Erasmus agreement. Experiences showed there is a strong similarity between the second year at UNICA programme and the corresponding second year at UNIBO programme.
Taking inspiration from the previous experiences, the two sides decided to develop a joint program. In particular it was created a double Master Degree Curriculum in Computer science engineering called UBIQUITOUS SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS
The final agreement on this international cooperation has been signed by the Rector of the University of Bologna and by the President of the Université Côte d’Azur in May 2026. This agreement will be effective from academic year 2026/2027 and will last 3 years.
Objectives:
The main objectives of the double Master Degree program in Computer science engineering named UBIQUITOUS SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS are the following:
- To promote the common development in higher education of France and Italy;
- To foster the joint training of internationalized talents, familiarizing them with cultures of both countries;
- To enhance the level of scientific research and development;
- To favor the cooperation between educational and industrial endeavors, applying advanced knowledge to innovation in the two countries.
These objectives are pursued allowing students participating in this initiative to obtain Double Title Degrees: "Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria informatica" from the University of Bologna, and the “Master Sciences, Technologies, Santé mention Informatique” of Université Côte d’Azur.
How to apply:
For Academic Year 2026/2027 there are five positions available in the program for each of the participating institutions.
On the University of Bologna side, the interested students must apply to the Master’s degree in Computer science engineering first (Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria informatica), and upon acceptance, apply to the specific Call for the admission to the Ubiquitous Systems and networks Program.
Please note that only the first two intakes for the admission to the general Master’s degree allow to respect the deadline for applying to the specific call for admission to the double degree program.
A commission appointed by the Degree Programme Board will decide upon admissibility of the candidates and rank them based on the merit based criteria described in the call.
The admissible students, up to the five top-ranked ones, from the university of Bologna will then enroll in the mentioned curriculum for their first year at the University of Bologna, and will then have to move to the Université Côte d’Azur during their second year.
All exams successfully passed at the host University by each student participating in the programme shall be automatically recognized by the home University.
First year at Unibo:
Selected students from both universities will attend classes at Unibo during the two semesters of academic year 2026-2027, starting in September 2026.
They shall pass all the exams specified by the curriculum, and thus obtain the corresponding 60 ECTS required to finish the first year, by September 2027. Students failing to achieve this target will be able to stay in the same track and complete their studies in Bologna, but will not be allowed to spend the second year in France and will not be awarded the French title.
Second year at Université Côte d’Azur:
Students satisfying the first-year constraints will join the Université Côte d’Azur and follow the second year curriculum program there.
For all students participating in the integrated study programme the thesis will be drawn up and delivered according to the rules provided by UniCA. This master thesis will be prepared in the context of an Internship in a company, in a research laboratory or in a University, under the supervision of a thesis advisor.
Registration and exemption from tuition fees:
During the mobility period students will remain enrolled and pay tuition fees in their home university and they will be registered at the host university. Students participating in the integrated study programme shall be exempted from paying tuition fees at the host University.
