*this learning activity may be granted for students who have already obtained a BLS-practice certificate issued by an official medical organization elsewhere in the world; a copy of previous BLS certifications, written in English or Italian, must be submitted to medicine.surgery@unibo.it for approval.

**this learning activity may be replaced with a different online activity for students who attend BLS-Practice elsewhere. 

Students who choose to attend the online replacement activities must email their certificates (amounting to at least 4 hours of online activities) to medicine.surgery@unibo.it

The final deadline is set for May 8, 2024

Any schedule change will be updated in the online timetable.

 

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR GROUPS

You will be divided in five groups. You can sign up directly on your Studenti Online, section “Prenotazioni/Bookings”. Please check the dates posted on this page before registering in one of the groups. The final list will be published on this page and it will be sent to CRI. After that, we cannot accept any further change request.

Please note that:

  • registration to one of the groups is mandatory to activate student insurance coverage and to provide the Italian Red Cross with the list of students for each group;
  • please pay attention to the deadlines for signing up for groups on Studenti Online.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum attendance requirement is: 

  • 8 hours of BLS-PRACTICE on-site classes;
  • 4 hours of STOP THE BLEED on-site classes (this learning activity may be replaced with a different online activity for students who will attend BLS-Practice elsewhere).

  

ACADEMIC RECORD

The activity will be recorded to students who:

  • obtain the final IRC/ERC certificate**;
  • attend STOP THE BLEED classes (or the online replacement activity of the latter for at least 4 hours).

**Students who obtain their IRC/ERC BLS certificate elsewhere must email a copy of it to medicine.surgery@unibo.it for prior approval

STOP THE BLEED online replacement activities

Students who are unable to attend STOP THE BLEED classes may replace them with a combination of the following learning activities available on the online learning catalogue of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Recommended activities:

  • Communication in emergency operations (30 min)
  • Emergency needs assessment (30 min)
  • COVID-19 guidance for eCBHFA volunteers (5 modules of 30 min each)
  • Health care in danger (60 min)
  • LIFESAVER: Interactive CPR (120 min)
  • First aid for babies and children (240 min)
  • First aid for adults (240 min)
  • First aid for older people (if available)
  • About Substance Abuse (1 module available of 90 min)

Other activities:

Students may choose other online learning activities from the catalogue, which is available in the 'Attachments' box of this page.

At the end of each activity, students will receive a certificate of completion after passing a brief test.

In order to reach the equivalent of STOP THE BLEED, students must complete at least 4 hours of activities. Students who choose to attend the online replacement activities must email their certificates (amounting to at least 4 hours of online activities) to medicine.surgery@unibo.it.
