Single Cycle Degree/Combined bachelor and master in Medicine and Surgery

Lecture attendance

Attendance at learning activities is mandatory. To be eligible for the final exam, you must attend at least 60% of the scheduled in-person hours.

For Integrated Courses (IC), the 60% attendance requirement refers to the total number of in-person hours of the entire IC. Students who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement will not be admitted to the final exam and must attend relevant classes again during the next academic year.

The following adaptations to the attendance requirement may be applied:

  • Students with institutional roles are requested to send a list of official absences to medicine.surgery@unibo.it before the end of the relevant semester. These absences do not count against the student’s attendance record when determining compliance with the minimum attendance requirement.
  • First year students who, due to exceptional circumstances beyond their control (such as visa delays preventing timely entry into Italy), are unable to meet the 60% minimum attendance requirement for first-year, first-semester courses, must fulfill compensatory measures for admittance to the corresponding exam. To do so, students must send a motivated request before the end of first-year, first-semester courses, to the Degree Programme Coordinator at medicine.surgery@unibo.it. Students will be informed of the compensatory measures and the deadlines for their fulfillment.
  •  Students with health conditions that significantly impact their studies are requested to consult the Service for Students with Disabilities and SLD for support and information on available adaptations. Please note that faculty and administrative staff of the degree programme are not authorized to evaluate medical certificates. Students should also consult the Programme Director for guidance.
  • All other extended absences due to exceptional, uncontrollable, and urgent circumstances may be approved provided appropriate justification is submitted to medicine.surgery@unibo.it. Excused absences will not count against a student’s attendance record when determining compliance with the minimum attendance requirement. In such cases, professors may also require fulfillment of compensatory measures.

Starting from Year 1 of a.y. 2024/25, and progressively in the following academic years, the Degree Programme uses the Presenze studenti web application as a tool to records student attendance.

On this page there is a short manual on how the application works and some useful links for technical information.

For students enrolled until a.y. 2023/24, the student attendance recording system remains unchanged.
