The Commission’s final report included a few minor issues that DIMEVET is committed to improving, some of which are structural and not easy to solve. They include the low number clinical cases of farm animals and horses. In addition, a recurrent critique was the excessively traditional teaching system.
This is a critical aspect of the entire Italian educational system, with teaching methods designed in the last century that are too resistant to the innovations adopted by most European academic structures. Too many lectures, and too little work for the student. The result is a heavy and relatively effective teaching method that produces an exaggerated number of “fuori corso” students (i.e. past the envisaged completion time for the degree course).
