Call for application 

Admission to MA MIREES – A.Y. 2017/2018
AVAILABLE PLACES

The number of available places for admission to the master's degree in "Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe" (MIREES) is 50, of which 20 places for Non-EU citizens residing outside Italy.

The admission to the master's degree includes two intakes, scheduled as follows:

First intake

Second intake

  • EU/Non-EU with equivalent status to EU candidates: n. 15 places
  • Non-EU candidates residing outside Italy: n. 20 places
  • EU/Non-EU with equivalent status to EU candidates n. 15 places + residual places not assigned in the first intake

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

For admission to the Master of Arts in "Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe" it is necessary to have:

1)       First Cycle Degree from an Italian university among those listed in the Call (see 1.3) or an equivalent First Cycle Degree from a non-Italian University which grants access to a Second Cycle Degree in the issuing country.

2)       Knowledge of the English language at a minimum of B2 Level, according the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, attested by one of the following certificates issued no more than 3 years prior to the application deadlines: TOEFL - computer-based – of at least 213 points; TOEFL - paper-based - of at least 550 points; TOEFL - Internet-based – of at least 80 points; IELTS - of at least 6.0 points; FCE – B; Trinity ISE II ; a B2 level certificate in English released by a University Language Centre. The above-mentioned certificates are not requested if the candidate is an English mother-tongue or has obtained a First-Cycle Degree awarded by an English-speaking university or entirely taught in English.

3)       Assessment of a suitable personal preparation in at least one of the following disciplinary fields: Law, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Political Geography, Demography, Gender Studies, Anthropology, History, Philosophy, Literature, Language Studies, Cultural studies, at European and international level, and also in recent political and economic events in the European and international contexts, usually provided  by a First Cycle Degree (BA).

The assessment is carried out on the basis of the documents submitted by the candidates and listed at paragraph 1.4.

  • EU candidates and non-EU candidates with equivalent status to EU candidates can participate in either the first or second intake: however, candidates applying in the first intake and getting a negative result will not be able to participate in the second one.
  •  EU and non-EU candidates with equivalent status who were selected in the first intake but did not enrol within the deadline as well as eligible candidates on waiting list can apply again in the second intake according to the terms and conditions laid down in the call, without paying again the registration fee.

  •  Non-EU candidates residing outside Italy can apply only in the first intake, within the quota reserved to them.

  • The selection is made on the basis of the candidate’s qualifications (academic education, academic and non-academic working experiences, reference letters) according to the intakes and deadlines reported below. An oral interview may be requested only to the candidates who do not meet the curricular requirements.
