A curricular internship is a training activity designed to help you acquire professional skills to complement theoretical studies, enabling you to gain practical experience at companies, public institution and/or structures of the University of Bologna and to earn the relevant credits. To find out what types of internships are available, please read the first paragraph below.
Internship for the preparation of the final examination (elective). It allows students to complete a scientific project at a research laboratory or at a Company/Organisation and to gain 12/15/27 ECTS, depending on the selected activity.
To obtain 1 ECTS you must complete a minimum of 25 hours / a maximum of 30 hours of activity.
You can submit the application from the second year of the course onwards, after you have included it in your study plan and you have identified the thesis topic with your Thesis Supervisor.
In accordance with Legislative Decree 81/2008, as amended, and the State-Regions agreements, anyone undertaking a curricular internship is treated in the same way as employees and, consequently, must receive appropriate training in health and safety at work.
Before applying for an internship, ensure you have completed the workplace health and safety courses (Module 1 and Module 2) and read the Privacy Policy.
If you have already completed the General Training (Module 1), to be exempted, upload the general training certificate obtained from other institutions or companies in the ‘Safety Course Exemption’ section on Studenti Online (SOL).
Module 2, however, must be completed through the University’s training programme. Certificates obtained from other institutions are not valid.
If your internship takes place in environments with medium or high risk (such as, for example, an excavation site, a construction site, etc.), you will likely need to supplement your training with additional modules. Ask your tutor at the host organisation directly whether the certification you already hold is sufficient or whether it needs to be supplemented (for example, with “specific training for medium risk” or “high risk”).
For further information, please see the “Health and Safety mandatory training" page (link at the bottom of this page).
