What they are
Intensive courses take place only in Bologna, in both the first and the second semester (September and January). They last 10 days, with 4 hours of lessons per day.
Semester courses are offered in Bologna and in the Romagna Campuses, twice a year (October–December and February–May). They last approximately 13 weeks.
Among the semester courses, there are also courses in Specialised Communication (level B1) and Academic Italian courses (levels B2-C2).
How to enrol
The first course you attend at the Language Centre is free of charge, while an enrolment fee is required for subsequent course.
First, you need to decide:
- Which kind of course you want to attend
- If you want to attend the course in Bologna Campus or in Romagna Campus
- In which semester to attend the course
Second, you need to complete a placement test to enroll in an Italian course.
The placement test for intensive and semester courses take place at different periods. Pay attention to the period of the placement test, according to the course you want to attend.

Optional courses
Intensive and semester courses from A2 to C2 are optional and open to all international learners who wish to study or improve their Italian for academic purposes or everyday life. The first course attended at the Language Centre is free of charge, while an enrolment fee is required for subsequent courses.

A1 courses and self-study with tutors are only available to students who have the B3120 Italian language for international students course in their study plan.
