Preparing the study plan

Information on completion and submission of a study plan.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDY PLAN SUBMISSION – A.Y. 2024/25

For a.y. 2024/25 students will be able to submit their study plan exclusively in the following time frames:

First period:  7th October 2024 – 10th November 2024

Second period: 10th February 2025 - 7th March 2025

ATTENTION: Extraordinary period: 25th November 2024 - 20th December 2024

This extraordinary period is reserved for students enrolled in the academic year 2024/25.

The study plan can be submitted by students regularly enrolled to the academic year 2024/25.

The study plan must filled out according to the Course Structure Diagram, referring to the academic year of your first enrollment.

1. ONLINE SUBMISSION

Students should submit their study plan online if they meet one of these requirements:

  • Regularly enrolled and “in corso” (i.e. within the expected duration of their degree programme)
  • Regularly enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme with “fuori corso” status for no more than 3 years
  • Regularly enrolled in a Master’s degree programme with “fuori corso” status for no more than 2 years
  • Regularly enrolled in a Single Cycle degree programme with “fuori corso” status for no more than 5 years
  • Regularly enrolled after transferring from another UniBo degree programme (“passaggio”) from a.y. 2019/20
  • Regularly enrolled after transferring from another University (“trasferimento”) from a.y. 2019/20

The online study plan should be submitted in order to choose electives, register for a specific curriculum within the degree programme or change electives that were previously chosen.

Online submission is available via StudentiOnline, which can be accessed with institutional credentials.

Approval of the study plan

Approval will be automatic, with no need for evaluation, if students select the electives suggested by the Degree programme board and listed in the course structure diagram.

If students select electives that are not recommended by ticking the options “Qualsiasi attività della Vice Presidenza della Scuola di Ingegneria e Architettura sede di Bologna” (any course within the School of Engineering) or “Qualsiasi attività dell'Ateneo” (any course within the University), their study plan will undergo evaluation by the Degree programme board. The outcome of the evaluation will be visible on StudentiOnline.

PLEASE NOTE: On StudentiOnline it is not possible to select courses that belong to degree programmes with restricted access outside the Engineering-Architecture field. In order to select this type of electives, students should submit a specific form to the Student Administration Office as explained below (point 2).

After the submission of the study plan, check if your request has been correctly saved.

Preparation for the final examination abroad

Students attending a Master’s Degree programme who have enrolled from a.y. 2016/17 onwards can select the activity Preparation for the final examination abroad (among type “E” activities), if this is included in their course structure diagram. This choice implies that thesis preparation abroad is performed during an Erasmus+ Study or Overseas mobility period or as part of a Thesis Abroad mobility funded by the Education Division or by a Department, or during a different kind of mobility authorised by the Degree programme board.

If the decision of carrying out research for thesis preparation abroad is made when online study plan submission is not available, students can nevertheless add the activity Preparation for the final examination abroad to their academic record by including it in their Learning Agreement (for Erasmus+ StudyOverseas or Thesis Abroad programmes), or by sending a request to the International Mobility Office of the School of Engineering and Architecture in case they have been awarded a scholarship or grant for Thesis Abroad.

Internship for final examination

Internship for final examination must be entered in the study plan online during the set time frames; if the decision to add/modify the internship activity is made when the online study plan submission is not available, it is possible to enter it at any time of the academic year by sending an email to ingarc.tirocini.bo@unibo.it. In the text of the email it is necessary to indicate the code and the full name of the internship to add and activities possibly to delete (if there is a change). The Internship Office verifies the request and, if there are not inconsistencies with the course structure diagram of the degree programme, updates the career in accordance with the Student Admission Office. The request will be satisfied provided that the company/public body has previously made an offer for the student or, in the event of inner internship, provided that the student has made his/her request.

2. OFFLINE SUBMISSION (paper form)

ONLY FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT MEET ANY OF THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED IN POINT 1

Students who do not belong to the categories listed in point 1 will not be able to submit their study plan online. They will need to complete the form available in the “attachments” box on this webpage.

PLEASE NOTE: Incomplete forms will be disregarded. Students should therefore make sure to duly fill them in, paying special attention to the section on personal data and contacts (the phone number is especially important if the Student Administration Office needs to get in touch).

For courses offered in Bologna, the completed form should be submitted to the Student Administration Office (Via Marsala 49 - Bologna) by e-mail at the following address: seging@unibo.it.

Hand delivery of the forms is not provided.

In case of issues, students will be contacted directly by the Student Administration Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Students need to check that any course change or new choice is consistent with the choices made in their last study plan, if submitted in the previous years (e.g. it is possible to replace a course type F for another course type F and not with a course type A, B, C, or D).

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS (SOFT SKILLS)

Acquiring transferable skills provides students with the basic knowledge, abilities and qualities required to translate competences into suitable behaviour for organizational purposes.

Students may include transferable skills course units, that have been identified as being consistent with the curriculum of their degree programme, in their study plan.

It is possible to include this learning activities in the curriculum, within the elective credits (letter D), exclusively by filling in the study plan online.

Due to the specificity of these courses and the teaching methods adopted, attendance is reserved for a limited number of students.

Attendance for some of these learning activities is compulsory for 70% of the hours (this is mentioned in the online programme). Attendance must be accumulated in the year in which the teaching activities are included in the study plan.

Further information are available in the following webpage.

GRADUATING STUDENTS

Students intending to graduate by the academic year 2023/24, therefore by the graduation session of March 2025, may no longer submit a study plan or modify any previously selected course units.

Students paying the first instalment of fees for the new year who modify their study plan may not, under any circumstance, submit a graduation application for the graduation session of March 2025.
