Call for applications for the preparation of the final dissertation abroad

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERCULTURAL HERITAGE (I-CONTACT) - Ref. 1871/2023

WHAT: Call for Application for the Preparation of the Final Dissertation Abroad offered by the Master’s Degree Course in International Cooperation on Human Rights and Intercultural Heritage. The applications will be evaluated by a commission formed among professors of the Department, who will assign scholarship(s) amounting to at least 1.000,00 and at most 3.100,00. The amount of the scholarship will vary according to the destination and the length of the period abroad (which will have to be within 1 month and 6 months at most).

WHEN: two opening slots (DEADLINES!)

  • Deadline 1st slot: form 3rd April to 15th of May 2023, 12.00h - for abroad with departure from 1st January and before 30th July 2023
  • Deadline 2nd slot: from 4th September to 16th of October 2023, 12.00h - for stays abroad departing no later than 31st December 2023.

HOW:

  • Requisites: the call is reserved for candidates who find themselves in the following conditions:
    • Students enrolled in A.Y. 2021/22 or A.Y. 2022/23 in the last year in, or out of, the course of the Master’s Degree in International Cooperation on Human Rights and Intercultural Heritage.
    • The conditions of eligibility must be in place at the time of application submission.
  • Evaluation criteria:
    • Thesis project and relevance of activity abroad program.
    • Curriculum of studies, number and average number of examinations taken on-course and off-course (with equal number of exams and average prevails for those enrolled in course).
    • Consideration will be given to theses concerning topics with an international content and setting international and, in any case, only those projects in which the search for material and information abroad proves to be of particular relevance or usefulness;

Remember: applicants who are not awarded the scholarship but are found to be eligible in the final ranking, will still be allowed to carry out the activity abroad in the location and for the period indicated in the application. This authorization will ensure the coverage of insurance (see point 11) and the recognition of the CFU for the preparation of the dissertation abroad (if criteria under point 13 are respected)

  • 11 Insurance: For students (grant recipients or non-grant recipients but declared eligible in the final ranking) who will carry out their training abroad, the insurance cover will operate automatically as long as they are duly enrolled in the course of study indicated in Article 1 of this notice.
  • 13 Administrative obligations: Winning and eligible students must follow the instructions given in the "Guide for Winning and Eligible Students" concerning the administrative formalities to be carried out through the AlmaRM platform (https://almarm.unibo.it), which are compulsory in order to recognise the thesis preparation activity. The Guide will be sent by email to all successful and eligible students following the publication of the ranking list.
  • How to present the application (deadlines: 15.05.2023 and 16.10.2023):
    • Access to SOL (https://studenti.unibo.it/), using your Unibo Credentials
    • Select ‘Bandi’ (calls for application)
    • Select the Call ‘Borse di studio per tesi all'estero’ (Call for Application for the Dissertation abroad)
    • Communications regarding the call will be sent to the institutional address ...@studio.unibo.it
  • Documents to upload:
    • Curriculum vitae signed and with a date
    • ‘Allegato A’ (attachment A) => the total duration of the experience abroad with specific indications of starting and ending dates, the destination country and host agency/university/organization, dissertation supervisor.
    • Project of the thesis (in ITALIAN or ENGLISH). It must contain the following information: a) title of the project; b) length of the experience; c) abstract; d) description of the aims and objectives of the project; e) motivations for the choice of the topic/issue and of the destination/host organization; f) description of the host structure or the host research group; g) descriptions of the methods that the candidate wants to use in the project.
    • Declaration from the Supervisor in which there is: 1) written approval of the proposed dissertation project, with information on the utility of the activity in the proposed structure abroad; 2) declaration regarding the institutional connections or the contacts started with the abroad organization regarding the project, with which it’s confirmed that there is the availability of the proposed structure to host the candidate and in which it’s written the name of the referent which will follow the student.
    • ‘Allegato B’ (Attachment B) with fiscal data

Remember that if you are selected and a scholarship is assigned to you, in order for you to receive credits (CFU) for the activity, in your Study Plan it must be present the activity ‘Preparation for final examination abroad’ (12 cfu) (86266). If it is NOT the case, you will be able to do the research and receive the funds, but you WON’T be able to receive credits for it! More information on this on the dedicated I-CONTACT page.
