GENERAL INFORMATION ON ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

You can enrol in  the 2024/25 academic year from 03/06/2024 to 29/10/2024. Late enrolment is possible until 21/11/2024 with a surcharge.

To be admitted to the 2nd cycle Degree Programme in International Horticultural Science/Ortofrutticoltura Internazionale candidates must meet the curricular requirements and pass an assessment of their personal competences and skills.

 

CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science consisting in at least 180 ECTS in the Life Science study area (e.g. Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry and Biology). Prospective applicants could request to have checked in advance the eligibility of their BSc sending all the relevant documentation (degree certificate and list of exams taken) to the e-mail address: distal.imahs@unibo.it

For applicants with a European Degree

Possession of a European First-level Degree (or equivalent) in one of the following classes (D.M. 270/04):

  • AGR/11 – General and applied entomology:5 ECTS / CFU
  • AGR/12 – Plant pathology:5 ECTS / CFU

For applicants with a NON-European Degree

Bachelor of Science consisting in at least 180 ECTS in the Life Science study area (e.g. Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry and Biology.

LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the programme is subject to possession of English language skills at least at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The assessment of the B2 level knowledge and skills of the English language is fulfilled if the candidate satisfies one of the following requirements:

  • provides an International Language Certification (see the complete list of recognised certifications available below);
  • is a citizen of a country whose official language is English or comes from a course of study in English;
  • has resided in a country whose official language is English for a period at least of 12 months;
  • have passed an English language exam of a B2 level in the previous Degree Programme at the University of Bologna or at another University Language Centre part of the AICLU (Italian Association of University Language Centres). Please note that this case should be certified through the transcript of records/degree certificate or by an official letter released by the University issuing the Degree.

ASSESSMENT OF PERSONAL COMPETENCES AND SKILLS

Admission to the 2nd cycle Degree Programme is subject to the passing an oral interview to assess the candidates' personal competencies and skills.

The Admission Board will evaluate the documentation uploaded and, in case of a positive response about the evaluation of curricular requirements, students will be asked to undertake an interview with the Admission Board in one of the following dates.

Personal preparation is met if the candidate graduated in classes L-25 and L-26 (Ministerial Decree 270/04) or L-20 (Ministerial Decree 509/99) and shows a GPA graduation mark equal to or greater than 100/110 (or foreign equivalent).

The interview will be performed by Microsoft Teams.

The interview will aim to verify the minimal scientific, technical and language knowledge required to fruitfully attend the Master Degree.

The Degree Programme will offer 4 admission interview sessions in the following dates:

  • Early March 2024
  • Mid June 2024
  • End of August 2024
  • End of October 2024

 

After taking the interview, successful candidates will receive a communication to their email address (@studio.unibo.it). In order to validate the admission, they are requested to proceed with the official enrolment as soon as possible. The matriculation process will be available from June 03, 2024.

The application process is also open to students who are about to graduate. Candidates will be admitted to the degree programme on the condition that they obtain their undergraduate degree by and no later than December 30, 2024. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will be excluded.

INFORMATION ON THE ORAL EVALUATION

Since the test is carried out at a minimum university knowledge level, any of the aforementioned undergraduate subjects can be taken as study reference from any Bachelor’s degree program.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

In order to apply, prospective students need to:

  1. register via Studenti Online,
  2. select “Admission application",
  3. select “Second cycle degree programme”,
  4. select “International Horticultural Science”,
  5. fill in the online form with personal data,
  6. close the procedure,
  7. when the "application summary" is generated, upload your Self-certification of admission requirements (containing exams, CFU and SSD).

PLEASE NOTE:

The self-certification form can only be uploaded after having closed the application procedure.

Students must attach the following documents to their application:

  1. front and back photocopy of a valid ID card/Passport or other valid document of identification;
  2. transcript of academic records: Bachelor’s Degree certificate reporting the full list of exams and grades achieved, including final graduation mark (Italian students can attach a self-certification of their 1st cycle Degree Programme, while EU applicants their Diploma Supplement);
  3. English proficiency certificate;
  4. Curriculum Vitae in English/résumé;
  5. Application Form filled with all the necessary information and signed by the student;

Applicants should be aware that – throughout the online application – they will be required to identify their graduation mark or CGPA, as well as the maximum score achievable (for instance 14 out of 20 or 65 out of 100 or 2.5 out of 4).

In order to enrich their application, applicants can also upload additional documents such as:
- reference letters,
- personal statement of motivation.

If applicants possess both the curricular requirements and the adequacy of personal preparation, once the application has been validated by the Coordinator on Studenti Online , the candidate can enrol.

OUTCOME

In order to validate your admission, you are requested to proceed with the official enrolment as soon as possible following next steps.

Results will be posted on Studenti Online. If the Admission Board deems the applicant meets all the requirements and issues a Positive Evaluation, the application light will turn green, otherwise, for a Negative Evaluation the application light will turn red.

Once enrolled, you will be able to sign up for the "Workplace Safety and Health" course which is mandatory for all students.

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the 2023 ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE value up to a specific threshold benefit from full exemption; the relevant ISEE threshold will be released by the end of May 2023. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively.

The ISEE value must be submitted, even if you have not enrolled in the Degree Programme, by 30 October 2023, at 6:00pm (or by 15 November 2023, at 6:00pm, paying a €100 penalty) accessing ER-GO Online Services, alternatively you will have to pay the full amount.

If you are an international student, verify how your tuition fees will be calculated according to your country of origin and the country where your family has income and assets.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
