Practical information
All teachers who have taught in the Degree Course (Bachelor's or Master's indifferently)
- If the student is interested in carrying out the thesis with an external teacher as supervisor, then the teacher must be a professor from the University of Bologna. In any case, it is necessary to identify an internal teacher (i.e. from our Degree Course) who acts as co-supervisor.
- If the supervisor supervises the thesis work in collaboration with a professor who is not from the University of Bologna, then the latter can fill the role of co-supervisor.
It is possible to write the final paper in English for one of the following reasons:
- the student has completed a period of study abroad;
- the student has collaborated with international research structures for the preparation of the final thesis;
- the supervisor considers it necessary, for scientific reasons, that the thesis be written in English.
In any case, it is necessary to accompany the thesis with a summary in Italian (e.g. the introduction).
Each candidate must prepare a concise presentation of their thesis work. The presentation must last about 10/15 minutes and the candidate can use both slides (to be projected) and the blackboard as support.
Before graduation, the Department's IT technicians are available to test the projector for electronic thesis presentations (admin@dm.unibo.it - Technical Office - Ground floor). The date of the test is communicated via email by the Didactic Secretariat.
(starting from students enrolled in the 2017/18 academic year)
The Degree Commission will evaluate the course as a whole. The evaluation of the commission is expressed in one hundred and ten (110). In the event of a positive evaluation, the test is passed with a minimum score of 66/110 and a maximum of 110/110. The criteria for the evaluation of the thesis are:
- originality of the argument
- methodological correctness
- level of detail
- adequacy of the writing and drafting of the paper
- ability to exhibit and present the paper.
The Commission will establish the final grade by computing the weighted average of the marks on the basis of 110 (the 30 cum laude weigh in the same way as the 30) and assigning the candidate a maximum of 4 points on the proposal of the supervisor. In the event that the supervisor deems to require 5 or 6 points, the opinion of a co-supervisor will be required. The co-supervisor is identified by the Coordinator from a shortlist of two proposed by the supervisor.
Honors can only be awarded when the student comes to the discussion with an average of no less than 106/110.
