IM visits Lombardini!

May 2015

Lombardini Kohler’s HR Director in his speech to the class on April 24 presented the business case (a real problem they are facing) on which the class would have had to work.

The topic was “How to increase the company culture through their internal Accademia giving an higher visibility inside and outside the company “.

The two groups worked a lot on the subject for the whole month and finally presented their suggestions to the Board of Managers (M.D., HR director, Marketing director and two other managers of the same mentioned departments).

The day was organized as follows: in the morning with the factory visit, then with the two groups presentation (1 hour per group) and after the lunch with a 2 hours and a half meeting with the manager of HR, Marketing, A&F and Logistics to discuss various topics regarding their activities in the business to business market.

The final evaluation given to us by all the managers, including the Managing Director, was excellent. Not only they were very satisfied about the way the two groups evaluated the business case and on all their suggestions, but also about the methodology they followed.

The company management promised to analyze deeper the two groups presentation in an appropriate meeting and to report to us which suggestion will be adopted among all the possible ones.

It was another fantastic experience with a great success also for Clamda-IM."

Business to Business Marketing professor at Clamda-IM

"Thank you for helping us build up our presentation/project during these weeks. I really enjoyed working with my classmates on the case and learnt a lot about the B2B market and it was a real issue about an existing company.

Last Friday I was able to experience positive pressure which allowed me to be challenged and motivated in front of the CEO and the other members of the 'jury'. The comments of each manager were very interesting and helpful.

In a nutshell, this project was very challenging and a learning experience that we were able to put into practice."

"Our group experience at Lombardini Kohler Group was both challenging and rewarding. Challenging as for many of us, it was the first time we were facing a real problem given by a real company.

Moreover, time and the limited amount of info about the company were the biggest challenges we had to confront. We really put a lot of effort in our project as we felt the pressure coming not only from the management but also from Prof. Lelli who pushed us to work very hard."

"...It was really interesting to present what we had worked on intensively for the past weeks and also seeing the management team respond to this. The presentation went very well and although the ideas of some managers in the company differed quite a bit from the content taught in class, I think we managed to make a very good impression and leave them with ideas they can work with. This was also the feedback we got from the managers afterwards.

All in all, we found that the Lombardini’s business case was a good way of putting the theory achieved during the business to business course into practice, having the experience of working towards a real deadline for a business case. We are glad to have had this great possibility, and to conclude a period of hard work in such a nice way."
