It has been an unexpected honour to be selected, with my colleague Lorenzo Bezzi, by the Boston Consulting Group as a possible “Future Maker”. This formative initiative was developed in order to celebrate the BCG Italy 30th anniversary. They have been selecting 100 possible "talents" among more than 1200 profiles for four months. We were part of a big group of strongly engaged students, between 23 and 26 years old, coming from all Italian universities, with different backgrounds, mentalities, future objectives and life experiences.
My colleague and I had the possibility to actively participate to many debates and conferences, which took place at the beautiful BCG headquarter, in front of the Milan’s cathedral. Starting from May 29th to May 31st, we listened to the motivating speeches of Mr. Falco, CEO of BCG, Mr. Descalzi, CEO of Eni Group, Mr. Evans, Senior Advisor at BCG, Linus, Artistic Director of Radiodeejay, Mr. Guerra, CEO of Eataly, Premier Renzi, Mrs. Mori, Director of Valore D, Mr. Opp, Director Innovation of World Food Programme and, finally, Mr. Tinelli, Director of San Patrignano. After each session of stimulating talks, we had the important responsibility, divided within ten teams and supported by BCG’s consultants, acting as tutors, to develop discussions, concrete outputs and possible future challenges that we would like to undertake in our future carriers as “makers” of tomorrow.
Beside the possibility to create a strong network of students and entrepreneurs, to improve our knowledge, leadership, our capability to understand the world’s phenomena and our passion, we reflected about the biggest global issues, such as the distribution of the energetic resources, the digital intelligence and the big data importance, the role of the emerging markets in the political scenario, the ethical and human attributes of a winning leader, the importance and the difficulties of women within different sectors. Thanks to the touching videos of people living in San Patrignano, we understood the importance of recognizing and making it through failures that we will face for sure during our professional and life journey. Undoubtedly, after this event, we are ready to continue studying and working hard, bringing back to Bologna an immense treasure of new knowledge that we want to share with our friends at university.
We strongly recommend to apply for this event or similar ones, next year, to continue working hard as IM students and we will be happy to satisfy the curiosity of all those interested in this kind of experience!
