Alumni Stories - Marco Biasin

The day I told to IM Faculty and Cristina that I was about to leave for the Silicon Valley for an entrepreneurial project, suddenly an automatic mechanism started. She gave me the contacts of former IM students that are in California that I could contact to meet up.

I enrolled in IM Master's Degree and at the same time I started my entrepreneurial experience with FruttaWeb.com, a website where people can buy online a large variety of different fresh fruits and vegetables and receive them at home in 1-2 days.

Thanks to my startup, from the 5th to the 15th of November 2015 I had the opportunity to attend the TVLPx program in the Silicon Valley: ten amazing days in the Californian paradise, together with other 9 entrepreneurs and their business ideas, where we performed many activities. We attended classes of Professors of relevant Universities, as Stanford, Berkeley, Santa Clara. We visited important companies, such as Google, Intel, IBM, Plug&Play, etc. We were mentored by investors and Capital Ventures that gave us insights and instructions on how to present the famous “pitch” that investors would like to hear from startups.

On top of that, I am happy to share this experience with the whole IM community. Through the IM Faculty I had the possibility to meet other IM Alumni. Among the 10 selected entrepreneurs there was Elena, a former IM student, who presented her project called Saladz. Then Massimo, a former IM student too, and now COO in Maikii Company, was waiting for us there. Samuele and Davide, former IM students who are now working in Silicon Valley, could not join us but we had a good talk and they gave me some useful tips.

We met and we shared experiences and opinions, helping each other, and thereby letting our network grow. It was in Silicon Valley that I could realize how much the IM network can have a positive impact on our future careers.

The main message that I would like to convey is that the IM Alumni community is a reality and you feel at home in every place where IM is. In my personal experience, our network is an additional asset: a new and amazing intangible asset!
