The Department of Management promotes the organization of three English language courses reserved to students enrolled in the Master’s Degree programmes.

The Department of Management (DISA) in collaboration with the University Language Center (CLA), promotes the organization of three English language courses reserved to students enrolled in the Master’s Degree programmes of the Department of Management. 

The courses will be organized in the first semester of ay. 2023/24 as follows: 

  • English course - level B1++;
  • English course - level B2;
  • English course - level C1.

The courses from level B2 onwards include a specialization in the "Business" area. 

The registration fee for students attending the English courses will be covered by the Department of Management.  

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE COURSES 

  • Duration of the course: 50 hours, two weekly meetings of 2 hours each, for a total of 13 weeks
  • Number of participants: maximum 20 students
  • English Native speakers as teachers
  • Mandatory attendance, up to 70% of the hours

The courses will be held in presence starting from October 2023. 

Students passing the final test will get a certificate of attendance. Only for students attending the courses at level B1++ and B2, It will be possible to enroll in the course at the next level. 

CLA Certificates can be recognized in the study plan as curricular language proficiency, if the English course level corresponds or is higher than the level of English required in the study plan.  

 

ELIGIBILITY 

B1++ and B2 level courses may be accessed by students enrolled in the first or second year of Second cycle degrees delivered in Italian, ay 2023/24 at the Bologna campus: 

-Direzione Aziendale, curriculum Direzione Aziendale/Business Administration, curriculum Direzione Aziendale (cod. 0897); 

-Economia, Consulenza e Professioni/Economics, Consultancy and Accounting (cod. 5981); 

-Economia e Professione/Economics and Accounting (cod. 0900);  

-Finanza, Intermediari e Mercati/Financial, Markets and Institutions (cod. 0901). 

 

Only students who have NOT yet achieved the English B2 language proficiency are eligible for the project. 

The C1 level course may be accessed - in addition to students enrolled in the Second cycle degrees listed above - by students enrolled in the first or second year of the Second cycle degrees delivered in English at the Bologna campus: 

-International Management (cod. 5891); 

-Innovation and Organization of Culture and the Arts (cod. 0902). 

  

APPLICATION PROCESS AND SELECTION 

To attend the English courses it is mandatory to book and pass a Placement Test. 

Students must take the placement test according to the following procedure: 

 

Booking period:  
from Sept. 8 at 10:00 a.m. to Sept. 15 at 10:00 a.m.  

Where:  

students can book the test on Students Online, “Bookings” tab 

Test dates:  

three rounds to choose from: 

1) Tuesday, 19/09/2023, h. 12:00;   

2) Wednesday, 20/09/2023, h. 10:30; 

3) Thursday, 21/09/2023, h. 14:30; 

The test lasts aproximately two hours.  

Available Seats:  
max 35 per each round; 

Test place:  
“Laboratorio B” in Via Filippo Re 10, Bologna; 

  

IMPORTANT 

The placement test consists of two parts, a computer test followed by an interview with a Professor.  

Practice tests are not available.  

At the end of the interview, the teacher informs the student which course he or she would be eligible to enroll on the basis of the level obtained. 

The results will be directly trasmitted to the Department of Management, no additional activity is required for the participants.  

Should the number of students that reach the score required for access in the placement test be equal or inferior to the number of available places for each course (20 places), the students will be automatically registered to the course by the CLA according to the directions given by the Department of Management (DiSA), proven that confirmation of interest has been given by the students. 

Should the number of students exceed the number of available places, a list of students will be assigned to every course. The list will depend on the date of placement test, and should two students have the same score, the younger candidate will have priority.  

The students will be contacted by the Department of Management to obtain confirmation of their interest in attending the course. 
The list will be scrolled in order to recover positions that become available. 

Enrolment procedures will be handled by the CLA according to the directions given by the Department of Management (DiSA). 

Should one or more courses not reach the minimum number of 10 students enrolled or according to the results of the placement test, the organization of the courses may be considered for reshaping, also in terms of the level of courses activated.
