The curricular internship is a training experience, included in the study plan of the degree programme, aimed at completing academic education through practical experiences.
The internship activity is an experience planned to complete your academic education with practical work in a university structure or in companies, public or private bodies, trade and professional associations.

Carrying out an internship for the preparation of the final examination, in Italy or abroad, allows you to gain 12 of the 15 credits associated with your dissertation. The aim of such internship has to be consistent with the dissertation topic and agreed with the supervisor.
In this case, once agreed the topic of your dissertation with your supervisor, you can ask the Internship office to add the internship to you career (you can send your request anytime, despite the 2 periods scheduled to change your study plan) sending to the internship office the form you find attached.
You can carry out your curricular internship starting from the summer of your first year (after the 4th term classes) and/or during the second year. You must select it in your study plan (please read the information on how to modify the study plan).
*Important: During your internship, class attendance is still compulsory but it is possible to ask an exemption up to 2 terms (2 sub-cycle). Pay attention, the exemption can only be asked once during all your IM student career.

The University of Bologna has an internship database, called SOL-Internships. Companies and institutions that have an agreement with the University of Bologna may publish their internship offers there. You may, alternatively:
N.B. Students cannot carry out internships within a host organisation whose legal representative, director or business associate has family ties with the student applicant.
From 2022/2023 internships, as well as all other academic activities, must be carried out in presence, the academic tutor only, once checked the internship program can authorize students to work remotely.

NB: You have to complete the Health and Safety Training Courses (Module 1 and Module 2) before starting your internship. The certificates check is the responsability of the hosting company.

You can carry out your internship outside of Italy following one of the two possibilities listed below:
If you have completed an external activity (a non-curricular internship, a placement, etc.) that you think is relevant to your study field, you can ask for its recognition as a curricular internship. Check the information on how to submit your request, as in the attachment box.
At the end of the internship, you have to upload on SOL-Internships the whole attendance sheet, which has to be filled in and signed. Then, you will be directed to the online final evaluation form. Once the attendance sheet and the online final evaluation form is completed, the Internship office will validate the activity and the professor in charge, Prof. Vincenza Odorici, will register your internship on your online career.
